  1. Everybody knew, not only the US. Israel knew just as well. It's just that the spineless gov led by Meir and Dayan did nothing. They were so darn scared, so embarrassed by the 1967 victory, so afraid of the public opinion that they waited for the first shot. It's the same as now. Nothing has changed in the way of the leftist Israeli gov. They care none about the ppl.
