Poor people go to public schools, rich people go to private schools. I believe private schools should be banned.

@dl2839 overall, not per student. And private schools get to be more selective, whereas public schools must take everyone in.

@dl2839 being selective does not work for public education, because there is massive inequality that cannot be dealt with if public schools were limited like private ones. The profit incentive does, but in a way, does not matter when it comes to public education. Otherwise, schools would filter out low income, disabled, mentally ill, or homeless students, any students that costs alot of money and time for schools to deal with.

@dl2839 except private schools don't do that. If private schools took in everyone and received enough funding to cater to all students, they'd spend even more on students than public schools do. It'd be great if there were an unlimited number of scholarships or grants, but that isn't the case.

@dl2839 private schools are more efficient because of their filtering. I don't believe education should be gate keeped/held behind a paywall. Everyone should be allowed to pursue education regardless of their income, wealth or family status. Our ideal systems are fundamentally different. I desire 1. No private schools 2. Student loans forgiven 3. Tuition free higher education, including community colleges 4. Grants be provided for all low income and lower middle class students Although one could argue community college is a sham since it might take longer overall to complete a degree(since not all courses transfer)and you're spending more money since they don't cover any living expenses, and are very far apart.
