@relaxlibrary4249 my replies keep getting deleted.
I didn't add context since i didn't think anyone would read this.
I'm on medicaid because i'm a self supporting, very poor community college student. Neither CCs nor universities offer decent health insurance for students.
As far as the work requirements go, it's very simple: republicans want a work requirement in order in to force poor people into minimum wage jobs.
the two problems with medicaid are
1. many people believe poor people don't deserve government assistance
2. poor people won't work for slave wages if they have government benefits
since welfare pays more than minimum wage work, poor people have no incentive or pressure to work them. So what republicans do is use work requirements, time limits, etc. in order to coerce poor people into minimum wage jobs to make employers richer.
I had private health insurance, but when i turned 26, i lost medicaid because my state denied medicaid expansion, it was recently expanded, but i lost the premium tax credit that made my health insurance so cheap, forcing me back onto medicaid again
