Wages have went down, cost of living have went up, so purchasing power has been destroyed.

mystix when college is six figures? Lol try coming up with that making $40k a year or less.

@steves6756 it isn't supply and demand. Employers can and do suppress wages because every worker is expendable and even if they weren't, the employer incurs no cost to ensure its workforce's well-being. Almost everything is a commodity now: Health Care, housing, education, Etc., and with most people strapped for cash, they WILL work for wages they dislike.

He makes $28 million a year. That's over 1,000:1 ratio.
2
@robbieceez7052 no mate....just no.

Chris rock

The algorithms killed his channel and secular talk
2
That's still way too low.

@protorhinocerator142 minimum wage Prevents exploitation. Employees have too little bargaining power compared to the employers due to Market concentrations, financialization, technological innovations, and the destruction of unions and other worker benefits(all 50 states are at-will employment).
1
The Ghey Mantis no i didn't. I'm saying employers have too much bargaining power.
1
The Ghey Mantis wages are supposed to be based on what both sides want, not just one.
1
@steves6756 your well being IS the employer' s responsibility. It's hypocritical for employers to care about their own well-being, but not the employees, whom they depend on. And employees can't work if they're sick or dead, so it is in the employer's best interest for them to stay healthy. It is not supply and demand, a business with no employees is no different than a business with no customers. McDonald's cashiers should make $7 because they're unskilled according to you, but without those workers, the business doesn't function, skill or skill. And again YOU'RE ADMITTING no individual worker negotiates their own way. If they did, we would not have half a workforce that makes $40k a year or less.
1
The Ghey Mantis Yes. Even if it didn't, most employees are still poor. Thus, they're willing to work whatever wage is offered, even if it isn't what they truly want, because the alternative is much worse-dying. Lesser of two evils.
1
I only use this account when I get put in time out okay man. You're just ignoring me. That's fine.
1
@jessiehoward158 dumb argument.
1
I only use this account when I get put in time out we're done. You're ignoring employer power
1
I only use this account when I get put in time out good at your job? So if i flip burgers well, I'll make as much money as i want? No questions asked? You're delusional.
1
I only use this account when I get put in time out I was saying you were ignoring my talking points, considering them pointless. I wasn't criticizing your response time.
1
@Kyla Dumont you'd need to make $31.25 per hour for that to cost 30% of your income, and that's assuming no taxes. I wish there was price control on housing.
1
@Kyla Dumont I'd ban all millionaires and billionaires from owning more than 1 home. NO Republican would like that.
1
@Kyla Dumont You'd need to make $133k a year, no taxes, to pay off such a house in 5 years. That's with the same 30% limitation i mentioned before. You'd need to make way more to buy such a house outright, not to mention buying a house for your children.... Only rich people can live comfortably.
1
@Fr33Kingdom what are you implying by the "who's they?"
1
@richardrhineberger8891 I've never seen a fry cook make $23 million lol.
1
@george2009town it isn't easy, but they don't deserve $23 million a year.
1
@jonboll-LGM it isn't an easy job, but $23 million a year is too much. Plus $40 million termination bonus.
1
@geef917 the minimum wage was supposed to keep people out of poverty. And it still is supposed to do that.
1
@geef917 college reimbursement of what, $2,000 a year? Great, when college is a $100k+ price tag. Give me a break.
1
@geef917 The US workforce pays enough in taxes to make college free, it's just that the money is going to the wrong places.
1
@geef917 according to that logic we shouldn't fund the police since some people don't want or need them. Education is the great equalizer when it comes to reducing poverty. Making college only for rich people defeats the purpose.
1
No minimum wage anywhere in the world offers a middle class lifestyle.
1
@stevencoardvenice which is a death blow to the channel.
1
@stevencoardvenice why would youtube do that now?
1
@l_a_u_y8916 you need money to get a degree. If you're earning only minimum wage, there's no way to pay for a degree, let alone housing, healthcare, transportation, childcare and go to school full-time all at once.
1
You can be a manager and still have a day off.... Any manger making less than $30/hr is atrocious.
1
@C..404 yes. At mcds. It was garbage.
1
Good luck paying for college working minimum wage, let alone healthcare or housing.
1
@dongattojr380 yes exactly. It is a load of crap trying to pay for college working minimum wage.
