Greed knows no bounds.

When I was a cashier, I was a FTPT worker. Full time part time. I worked 28 hours a week because if I worked 32 hours, then I would receive health insurance

@jaythenihilist4689 contract work still being used to screw over workers???
2
I had to quit being a cashier at a supermarket because I made $10.50/hr, and NC is anti union.
2
@CharlieCCC I'm not depressed anymore. I'm mad at how easy the rich have it. How terrible the poor have it. And yet poor people are damned for wanting better for themselves.
2
Even fast food joints and supermarkets?
2
An Ohio pizza shop owner split the store's sales evenly with his workers for one day. Each employee made $78/hr.
2
That's messed up

@sculpy2758 can everyone reach seniority?

You don't need to understand economics. This is about priorities. The truth of our values lies in the risks we refuse to accept, and it is rising worker power, not continued poverty, that corporations find unacceptable. There wouldn't need to be a living wage minimum wage or unions if corporations simply paid people enough in the first place. Just like doctors don't need to apply for food stamps in the first place.

@jamesn2415 It has nothing to do with economics. Rape is unacceptable. So is kidnapping. We are willing to accept whatever consequences in fighting against these forms of suffering. But we are not willing to tolerate the consequences in fighting against poverty.
1
@James N I understand it. I'm not changing the subject. I'm telling you everyone has priorities, and they're based on what they are not willing to put up with.
1
Yep. It allows for lower wages and no benefits.

Last spring. I was poor because of inflation and regulations against poor people. I'm pursuing an associates degree at a community college. CC doesn't offer health insurance. Four year universities do, but you have to attend full time and then still take out loans on top of that. My minimum wage job kept me part-time, so I couldn't receive health insurance or any other benefits. My internship paid me $900 a semester, and I was taxed on top of that.

Welfare has work requirements, but even though I work, it also has the requirement that i'm able bodied, and thus, i am unable to receive welfare anyway.
1
Yep
1
Worker solidarity and poverty can not both exist at once.
1
MSM tells you rich people and business owners wanting more money is good, but workers and the poor wanting more money is bad.
1
So I guess greed is only good when corporations do it?
1
More like upper poverty.

I made $10.50/hr as a cashier. Wouldn't be a problem if a single t shirt was $60 at walmart.
1
Wow
1
That's hell.

I dealt with at a supermarket a few months ago WITHOUT a union
