Because it's about power and control. corporations, the capitalist class, need to have desperate workers to work for crummy wages. Otherwise, they won't have anyone to exploit.

@V Knight There is no such thing as a free market because: one all businesses do not operate independently of the government. 2. employees and employers do not want the same thing. 3. workers don't make what they're worth they make what they negotiate. There is a power imbalance. 4. for how about we start everyone at a living wage. Everyone deserves a living wage like women deserve voting.

Corporations spend more money on union busting than on giving workers benefits.

@18booma but the problem in this country is of values, not scarcity. Fighting for something implies that someone else is fighting against me as well. The problem is that my government does not support all workers having solidarity. This video is proof that worker solidarity, not continued poverty, is what is deemed as unacceptable.

@Mydogslove2laugh I don't want to be a cashier forever. But there are millions of workers, in and outside of minimum wage, that get denied benefits. This country is pure evil.

You hit the nail right on the head. The real reason for union busting is so corporations can maintain power

What's ironic about your statement is in North Carolina, most fast food joints and supermarkets have those same things without a union. I'm a cashier at a supermarket and get all of those things. But I'm still poor. Why? Because of the obama care work mandate, I only get benefits if I work full time, so i'm forced to be kept part time. I got covid and lost a family member but without benefits I had to go right back to working, and I wasn't able to take care of myself without savings.

@charlesray9674 Greed is a choice. Kamala Harris would not accept $1 billion to deny women voting. Or consent. Or abortion. Nor twice that amount. Nor any amount. It's about values. About what deprivation and hardship we deem intolerable.
2
@Mydogslove2laugh that's messed up.
2
@Mydogslove2laugh yep

@heynowls3058 to my comments?

@savegraysoncats Both of those things are messed up and true. Since I have no skills or money, I am in no position to contest the power of a corporation. After all, what doctor or billionaire would work minimum wage?
1
@Zero-z1m9y yes. Screw North Carolina government. Republicans side with corporations.
1
@18booma right.
1
@garyindiana2127 that's messed up. And why don't politicians pass a law mandating benefits day one?
1
And yet, despite this, they still feel they have the right to tell the poor to be happy with their crumbs
1
I think it's messed up that these people on Wall Street can make one billion dollars a year, but still want more money.
1
I think it's messed up hollywood actors couldn't even make millions for one episode.

Why should someone who remains a cashier have a say in how the company operates? They're not managing the company.
