@Turkey_Hill welfare programs are restricted, like medicaid, to force poor people to work for slave wages and into minimum wage jobs.
So on one hand, enough money goes into medicaid to pay for my healthcare but it's restricted behind a paywall.
And on the other hand, the government has no incentive to make medicaid more efficient because to do empowers workers.
On top of that, the income and wealth thresholds make it impossible to reach middle class income and pay for private health insurance.
If the government pays for someone's healthcare, then it is more money than what can be earned working a minimum wage job.
Lessening or eliminating welfare like medicaid will not change the underlying problem that lower end jobs are dead-end and do not provide any sort of productivity to enable oneself to escape poverty.
This restriction of welfare is also why universal health care, student loan forgiveness, free college, are all opposed- to keep people desperate to be under the boots of employers.
And why things like weak labor unions, illegal immigration, and competitive labor markets, are supported- because they undercut labor power.
