  2. 43% of the population is poor. 50% of children are in poverty. Yet both parties ignore the poor. As does the news. Why? It's like ignoring women.

  4.  @elizabethhosaka1069  the official poverty level is kept artificially low for several reasons, one being Republicans don't want to lose federal funding for welfare programs. Two, because the official poverty rate hasn't been majorly adjusted since the 1960s. In my state, the "official" poverty level is only $20k for a single person, it'd be $15k if it wasn't for Medicaid expansion. Look up the poor people's campaign that uses the unofficial but more accurate Supplemental Poverty Measure that shows 140 million people are poor or low-income.
