@vanessaodey1202 healthcare is a social responsibility, not individual one.

Yep

His opinion about the fact that he was able to overcome poverty and then he said that means every other black kid can do it: that is survivorship bias, 100%.

Beautiful

Exactly.

Yep.

If you believe hard work will always give you success, then you believe in just world fallacy.
1
Lol
1
@nyasiah1311 his survivorship bias.
1
Not really
1
@MyRamblingRose86 yes.

Conservatives tend to subscribe to just-world fallacy and survivorship bias to avoid acknowledging systemic problems. Because admitting there are systemic problems is admitting individual effort can only get you so far.

@noblepursuit591 Noone is owed anything? So women don't deserve to vote? Noone is owed freedom of speech?
1
@noblepursuit591 so answer my question then. Are women owed voting?
1
@noblepursuit591 if you pay taxes, it's your money being given to the government, not someone else's.
1
@Noble Pursuit I don't understand you want them to be able to vote and be drafted?
1
@Noble Pursuit many people, liberals and conservatives, in USA and many other countries, believe women deserve voting, but do NOT believe people deserve anything else(healthcare. Education. Living wage. Clean environment). I don't know why there's a discrepancy there.
1
@Noble Pursuit If we truly cared about ending poverty, we would be willing to tolerate whatever consequences in fighting against their poverty. We do this to help women have autonomy, such as voting. But we embrace all of the changes because we believe women having autonomy makes the world a better place. We are not willing to tolerate the consequences for ending poverty. Therefore, we do not truly believe in ending poverty. Voting laws are not like the weather: something you observe and predict but cannot control. a living wage minimum wage is not like the weather: something you observe and predict but cannot control. we can structure our society around a living wage just like we do around voting. Poverty is like women's suffrage: a policy choice. One that our government chooses to enact over and over again.

there are 2 reasons conservatives hate welfare, like the black lady. 1. Republicans oppose policies that pull people out of poverty and create a middle-class. 2. Poor people won't work for slave wages if they have government benefits.
1
Conservatives oppose social insurance, the fortunate helping the misfortunate, which is why they despise welfare.

wow.
1
Because he was supporting survivorship bias.

The exorbitant price of college is a systemic problem.
