This discussion gets muddy because it hinges completely on a definition of morality that is objective and definite. There is no such thing. Morality is just a common system we developed to maximize our chances of survival as a group. It is an evolutionary strategy, not some ultimate arbiter of what is right and wrong in the universe. The sad truth is, there is no right and wrong in there universe. We are a collection of particles defying entropy, and we have developed extremely complex neurological systems to do this. Thats it. Some systems we all agree with because they make us survive better and they make us feel better. That is all morality is. So, trying to have these discussions becomes very convoluted. I would say our functional definition of evil is someone who endangers the group by being motivated with its suffering or otherwise malaise. Basically, you are a threat to the group with no redeeming qualities. That is the only real definition of evil. So, are sociopaths inherently evil or "a threat to the group with no redeeming qualities" Maybe? Depends on the sociopath honestly.

@irishdc9523 - I think those questions are fascinating. A lot of people don’t realize our brain is made up of many subsystems which have to work in harmony for us to works as humans, so when people have deficiencies it is fascinating to see how it alters behavior. Hell, they aren’t even technically deficiencies, just mutations. I could see them being highly selected for in the right environment actually.

That is a really cool story. Did you know why the crops were burnt? Was it warfare or something?

@oneidawolf776 - Thank you for the explanation! I am really sorry how your people were treated, although my ancestors didn’t come to America till the late 1800’s, I still feel some responsibility for how badly you were treated. Hopefully our future can be bright together.

@irishdc9523 - Have you seen the things that happen if you damage Broca Region? People will not be able to speak but they can understand words. They might think they are saying the right words but random words come out. It really shows how our brain evolved by kind of just stacking neuronal columns on top of each other for each new function. A lot of localized subsystems are like functions in computer programs. They take specific input for a specific reason and give output to the next part of the consciousness system. Like little silos. The crazy variations you can see in behavior drives home the point that your consciousness is a combination of a bunch of systems we evolved throughout the years to understand our world.
