  1. Would you be more interested in liberals if they adopted a stance more in line with European social democracies while dropping the identity politics? I think a lot of working class people just want to know if they get sick they wont be screwed. They want to know that their kids can go to college without crushing debt. They want to know that they arent in an existential crisis if things go badly. I also think a lot of these working class people are sick to death of the identity politics. Such a stupid, vapid way to organize politically. It is basically pitting white people against everyone else. It is pitting men against women and so on. Those are my thoughts, not sure what your reasons are though.

  2. Ya, as an American, the Chinese system looks miserable. Their government is trying to make 1984 a reality. Sadly, I think the world will have to get used to China as the new global superpower. Their singular vision is helping to propel them past the US, and I dont think anyone can stop it.

  3. You are right, racism isnt nearly as bad as the media makes it out to be. Not focusing on race would be the prudent move, but too many special interest groups and too many minorities stand to gain from demonizing white people. Even the issues with racism look so overblown. Does anyone really believe that your occasional run in with a racist cop is why 13% of the population is mired in poverty? Why they have 70% of households without a father? Of course not, but it is easier for people to blame others instead of taking responsibility.

  4. Ehhhh... Listen, I live in Kansas and I love many things about my Midwestern brethren, but many of them refuse to listen to anything outside their comfort zone. People are getting totally locked into their ideology, and it is making people dumber.

  9. I really think it is because people get their news filtered into their echo chambers. We dont have news outlets here in America as much as we have propaganda outlets. It fucking amazed me that we elected Trump, and I am not some leftist who hates conservatives.

  10. Noam Chomsky is really hit or miss. He is obviously extremely intelligent and can often diagnose problems accurately, but he offers no real solutions for anything. His solutions would usually make things worse. Didnt he live in a Jewish commune at one point?

  11.  @greenvelvet  - I just brought it up to point out that Chomsky often has terrible solutions to problems he is aware of. I believe he is a sort of anarcho-socialist right? Such a system would never work for even a moderately sized country. He has some great insights, but not so much in the solutions department.

  12. It was theater, no doubt about it. Putin was trying to pass the blame on everyone in that video, there never was a chance a single one was going to speak their mind. Such is the state of authoritarian Russia. Horrible country.

  15. Ferguson was black people making themselves look terrible though. Michael Brown charged the cop and tried to take his gun. Black people burned their own neighborhood to the ground.
