Comments by "Jake Johnson" (@ElectronFieldPulse) on "Why Didn't Thomas Jefferson Free His Slaves?" video.
@Isaac Clark - What? You realize that the vast vast majority of people just took it for granted that Africans were inferior mentally. It would be out of place for a European or Arab or whoever to suggest they were on equal footing. Jefferson pushed the boundaries from the norm, trying to impart some rights onto them. This is a classic example of looking back in history and applying modern morals. Was Mansa Musu a monster? Black people and Muslims hold him up as an icon, but he made his money through slaves. Weird how the double standard is accepted by some..

@isaacclark9825 - How so? Being created equal doesn't mean you end up in equal positions. He was trying to improve upon the paradigm of his time. African tribes fought the British because they wanted to continue slavery, are they cowards?

@Isaac Clark - I said he improved upon the standards of the time. He tries to move the direction towards emancipation without having the moral convictions to fully embrace the best course of action. Calling him a coward is just funny. It would be like calling a Roman a coward for having slaves. It's just dumb to insert our modern morals. The vast vast majority of men back then thought that Africans were clearly mentally inferior on a genetic level, it was a different time and your emotive responses serve no purpose.

@JerodimusPrime - You're applying modern morals on history, and it is exceptionally tedious.

@darylstephens1391 - Seriously? That is your justification? I am curious if you actually believe it. Tell me, how old are you? It is obvious you are just grasping for reasons to justify hatred you have developed because of the opinions of others on social media, because no serious person could think the US was worse than other nations that had slaves. It was a worldwide practice, and plenty of countries had rights granted to their citizens. Hell, in England it was illegal in the country but not for people shipping them abroad. That would be far more hypocritical. No nation operates on a purely moral plane, and singling out the US as particularly evil is just... dumb.

@luizmonad777 - Who are cowards?

@darylstephens1391 - Dude, come on, you are grasping at straws so hard it is absurd. They also didn't let women vote, but it never occurred ro them that it was an issue. They just viewed black people and women as naturally incapable of running a prosperous country. Looking at Africa, especially South Africa where you have a clear divide between white rulers and black workers, and you can see the country is now falling apart.

@abdirahmanhassan1848 - Right, then literally every human was a coward because slavery was common in all cultures. So, society was like that, weird to blame individuals. Especially in the modern age of "POC are never responsible for their failures! It is all systemic racism!" Do you really think that is the only reason they have failed societies? Are you a coward who refuses to put any blame on the actual group? You will look like a coward in 100 years, don't worry
