  1. The F-35 had some problems at first, but it has turned out to be a success. It is cheaper than 4th gen alternatives such as the Eurofighter, and it has a wealth of new technology which will carry it into the oncoming decades. I think people were just privy to the R&D process like they hadn't been before, but the trial and error nature of testing is a normal thing. Canada really messed up by pulling out of their contracts even after funding some of the initial R&D. They could have gotten a relatively cheap fighter that had total air supremacy, but instead they will have to make do with their impotent replacements.
