  1. I mean, the country fell apart after this. I think Africans need to stop worrying about narratives which make them feel good and focus on narratives which are brutally honest. There isn’t a single African country with strong institutions and universal protection of human rights. The politics are so tribal, much like recent identity politics in the US have become so tribal. Instead of arguing the best system of government, people argue for their identity group above all else. This leads to endless conflict and regression of society
