@truebrew2004 - Myth? Seeing a psychiatrist can take over two years! Hope your depression doesn't get too bad in the mean time. There are serious drawbacks to the NHS, and there are serious drawbacks to American healthcare. But if you are middle class in the US with decent insurance, you will receive much better healthcare than in the UK.

@Blerblerblerb - Please, I know there are ethical arguments for universal healthcare, but you are overselling the NHS. People from England have to call at 8:00 A.M. sharp to hopefully be one of the first callers if they need a same day appointment. 8:05 is too late. There are years long waiting lists to see psychiatrists, which is unheard of in the US. People wait months and sometimes over a year just to get an MRI if it isn't life threatening like a shoulder operation. Nurses get paid almost nothing compared to US nurses, not to even talk about doctors. I have no problem when people say universal healthcare is the moral decision, but acting like the care is as fast and well funded as the US is pure fantasy. When I dislocated my shoulder, I went to the ER and within 3 weeks I had an MRI and was operated on. That is unheard of in the UK. You will be waiting for more than 3 weeks just to get a scan of the shoulder!

@truebrew2004 - The US often gets drugs years and sometimes decades before the UK. It is because 50% of worldwide pharma profits are made in the US. There are drawbacks, but there are a ton of benefits too. Which is why the US has the best cancer survival rate in the world, we get all the new drugs first.
