@ncburton1713 - I am fascinated by how humans respond to social pressure. I had an addiction, not to food but to drugs, and it took people telling me that I was a useless piece of shit before I really took it to heart and realized I had to get sober. People being nice and beating around the bush never motivated me. I think everyone reacts differently. For me, deciding to say f-you to someone telling me to get sober was obviously just a cop out so I could continue to use. I didn't want to be worthless, I wanted a life, but I know everyone is different.

@kellymoderator5253 - Social shame does help some people lose weight, you are kidding yourself by saying it doesn't. Being body positive also causes some people to stay fat.

@kellymoderator5253 - It is never their fault? What world are you living in? For the vast majority of people, being obese is their fault. You have such an open mind your brain is falling out.

@kellymoderator5253 - What citation do I need to say it helps some people? You have people in this very thread saying it did. I just watched a video from a guy who said his family and friends making fun of him made him decide to stick to a diet and lose a bunch of weight. There are all kinds of people for whom it helps. There are also people who use positive reinforcement to never get better, they think it must not be that bad and so it isn't urgent that they lose weight. Judging from your picture, I am guessing this is a personal issue for you. Just because you can't stand criticism and climb into a hole when people point out your weight doesn't mean everyone does. Not everyone needs people sugar coating everything. For some people it helps, for some people it doesn't.
