@pinchevulpes - Late to this conversation but I hate this hippy “respect all cultures equally” crap. Respect is earned, not given. Furthermore, all cultures are decidedly not equal, and we only advance as a species because some groups push the envelope and innovate. This idea that a group of people are respectable because they follow the same culture nomads from the plains followed is just weird. Culture is supposed to evolve and change specifically because we should be doing better than the past. It seems you buy into this idea simply because it gives you completely unearned respect. If I was very weak and had a static culture, it might be emotionally satisfying to guilt the dominant culture into respect, but is that really the way you want to get respect? Some forced faux respect which is just people being afraid of being called bigots if they don’t offer 100 percent positive views of you?

@pinchevulpes - Yep, and nobody owes any culture any respect via your same logic. So what’s the problem here?
