@Ninja-gt3zi - Always an excuse. It is a poor Haitain culture, period. The extremely long and continuous failure of Haiti can only be explained by culture. Trying to blame someone else for hundreds of years worth of failure is just comical. 1000 years from now you would be saying "Well, did they ever really get a fair shake?" Also, which mythical society had perfect conditions in order to flourish? You always act like other societies never had challenges of their own. Half of Europe was wiped out in the plague for God's sake

@christianmoore7109 - They have a very anti-Western mindset there, so if they need help, they should seek out help from Africa. It would never work coming from the US. We would be accused of colonialism the second we helped enough to actually change anything. They need someone to hold their hands in developing the most basic of institutions

@namonai - Haitains are the main ones to blame for their situation. After hundreds of years, if you are still blaming someone else... well, it isn't a mystery why your culture sucks and you can never advance. Cultures with an emphasis on personal accountability do much better.

@hopeintruth5119 - Tons of people and cultures have made do with meager resources. Plenty of examples bud. How do you think most developed countries developed? Did they have lab perfect conditions? Jews lost 40% of their global population. Started a new country surrounded by hostile countries. Yet they persisted. They have no culture which values the things which will pull them out of poverty. Hell, Cuba is communist and they still manage because they have a culture which encourages education. But with this specific group, for some reason they need lab perfect conditions to do even the most basic things right.

@chahineyalla4838 - Dude, it could hardly be worse there. Any supposed exploitation that comes with growth would be worlds better than the absolute disaster that Haiti is now. They clearly are no capable of building a prosperous country, they require a competent country's help

@Drejco515 - I think that was a very intelligent idea, but sadly I just don't see the Haitian people capable of building these institutions. Their culture must change on a fundamental level if they are ever to have success, and I just don't see that happening.

@natenae8635 - If their feelings prevent meaningful development, that is on them. We are all responsible for how we navigate the future. Oppressed people of Eastern Europe saw their economies explode after leaving a dictatorship, and their economies at least functioned before. I mean, do you ever hold them responsible for anything? If they let their own emotions, which are irrational by definition, negatively affect their potential relationships and development opportunities, who is to blame exactly? The people offering these deals?

@Niclaas1999 - They aren't though, and leftists have a very well known affinity for authoritarianism. Blaming it all on the capitalist US is just repeating a talking point to absolve minorities from any accountability. If you look at a society, you can always tell which ones will be successful by how much they criticize and blame themselves. Europeans are famous for always finding better ways to do things because they are dissatisfied with the status quo. Now look at the vast majority of the black culture or the Arab culture. They are riddled with conspiracies, blaming virtually all of their problems on someone else. Is it seriously a big mystery why they always fail? How could you possibly succeed when you refuse to take a serious look at your own faults? You wouldn't know where to start. Blaming everyone but yourself may feel nice, and i know it is the go to explanation for leftists, but it is disastrous when believed by the majority of the population.

@UpNorthCatsFan - What is "equipment"? Because all aid has thus far only made them dependant.. 200 years. Throwing more money at them will not work. They need to get the very basics right before businesses will even want to set up there. And the people would have to let it happen without complaining of colonization.

@hopeintruth5119 - Japan was isolationist for a long time and was prosperous. I mean, it is their funeral. If they continue to think other people owe them and that is the only way they will develop, then they will fail. They need to have rigorous societal standards adopted, but I doubt that will happen.

That is good you don't blame other people. When you look at failed culture and demographics, one common feature is that they blame all of their problems on someone else.

@Tinil0 - It is just odd that they would be opposed to ANY help or ANY investments. Wouldn't they be grateful for anything at this point? Because if pride is stopping them, that seems like a dumb reason when your country is a failed state. They obviously can't do it themselves.

@Tinil0 - I think you are correct in that solutions will have to come from them. We can invest in them like we did with China, and if they use that wisely, they could leverage it for economic growth on their own terms, just like Chins. But China had a culture of excellence for a long time before their century of humiliation, so Haitains will have to dig deep and really develop a new culture and norms which seek to maximize their economy. Their economy has to be first and foremost, so if they let their pride get in thr way of that much needed development, it will be sad.

@alexanderg1935 - So, I am a biochemist, and while I don't think of myself as a racist, I do have questions. IQ tests clearly show this demographic scores lower across the globe. Societies which have them as a majority are universally some of the worst countries. Even in other countries, their enclaves are some of the worst places to be in the country. Now, how is it that this failure is distributed so widely across the globe? I tend to think it isn't genetics, although i can't rule that out, I would guess they have developed mal adaptive cultures. I would hypothesize that if their culture changed to mimic more successful ethnic groups, they could prosper more. But given their rather primitive lifestyles compared to Europeans, they never had a good base to build a successful culture on. But, that doesn't really explain the IQ tests. Those are supposed to be impervious to different culture, although I still think explanations other than genetic would suffice. The real problem is how do you convince them to change their culture when it would be emulating white people, the people they hate?

The failed demographics do this because they have a victimhood mentality, so their only currency is maximizing how much they were victimized.

@hopeintruth5119 - So many other ethnicities have gone through worse and prospered. They don't have a culture which fiercely promotes intellectual endeavors, and that has hampered them immensely. Successful groups universally value education above all else, but that tradition is missing in a lot of African diaspora.

@Frommerman - I mean, the whole "more variation within races than between them" doesn't adequately answer that question. Certain haplogroups do tend to cluster on the most objective tests we can design. Tests which have some of the best utility for predicting future outcomes. Now, I don't know if the tens of thousands of years that saw Indo-European people proliferate resulted in significant genetic alterations. You would have to consider their ancestors, and it does get messy. But the fact remains, that some of the best objective metrics we have do show correlation between certain ethnic groups and IQ. It isn't as simple as melanin or no melanin, and it becomes very complicated quickly, but there are patterns. A significant amount of inter-cousin marriages in Arabic societies has shown abnormally high rates of disease clustered in Pakistani immigrants in England. Then you look at the Arabic community at large, and some evidences suggests this has affected the gene pool. Humans evolve, and I know it is a taboo question. Maybe there is no meaningful answer, no genetic difference, but the slavish deferral where people automatically reject the question is not something I can get on board with. And, the research might never be done. Maybe it is better than way, but it's not a passion of mine or anything.

@julius43461 - Good comment. It is ridiculous how some people try to make slavery a European thing. It is getting really old, and I think most white Americans at least are fed up with it. It is like having a crying baby 24/7, and if you don't pay enough attention to it, it will just cry louder.

@elli6220 - They are less legitimate, because after hundreds of years they can't form a functioning society. Ultimately, people have land to develop something which prospers. Governments and countries exist to serve its people, and Haiti has never done that. They fundamentally do not know how to create a functioning society.

@Student0Toucher - Yep, it's culture. The one thing liberals refuse to acknowledge, is that many majority black countries or demographics have extremely problematic cultures. They have a misplaced idea of how success occurs and how to get it for themselves. They have such a victim oriented view, they think white people are hoarding a pie, and they deserve a piece of the pie. They do not understand that they can and in fact need to make their own pie. No one is coming to save them, but they think that is what they are entitled to because they are oppressed. Yet, at the same time, they make foreign investment very difficult because they think foreign investment is colonialism or something. That means they just keep spinning their wheels, never improving.

You might now want foreign intervention, and I don't want my country (US) to take the responsibility of making you functional either, but you need someone to do it. You guys clearly aren't capable. Maybe have Europeans, Chinese, etc.. come in and develop an economy for you guys. Relying on just yourselves has not worked.

@UpNorthCatsFan - A cohesive society which is stable enough for development. Their society hasn't been able to stand up and stop their own ills. I just think it is wild that these problems arise in their country, in a country nearly as old as the US, and you somehow blame the West. When looking at the solutions for problems, it will have nothing to do with the West, because they aren't causing the problems in the first place.

@Zero_Contradictions - That is a hypothesis, it would require evidence to be more than that. I am open to the possibility given the correlation seen in IQ scores, but that is just suggestive data, not conclusive data.

@Zero_Contradictions - That is more data, but it is not conclusive. They would have to do a lot more to show such a thing. Possibly even identifying the exact genes involved. That work hasn't been done, and I doubt it ever will be, so all we have is speculation. One could theorize many different scenarios that might favor for different traits in more Northern people, and the IQ tests certainly suggest there might be something there, but you need causative data. Biomarkers such as genes would be that data, but correlated test results can be tricky. There is global communication, and a global black diaspora culture. It is pretty obvious it is a maladaptivr culture, centered on victimhood, and that might be having lasting effects on the cognitive development of a demographic, or even a desire for such a thing. It is difficult to divorce the two. Africans developed the first major civilization in Egypt, although they are distinct from Subsarahhan Africans. For Northern Africans at least, that data doesn't support a theory they have difficulty building civilizations.

It is similar to how people said thr black community in America had every reason to not trust the vaccine, excusing their very poor vaccination rates. In truth, the black community has a serious problem with anti-intellectualism in general. Look at the Nation of Islam stuff thar no one has paid attention to, even though a lot of powerful black men are connected to them. If you are telling me a people cannot differentiate between a study done decades and decades ago from a modern vaccine, that is entirely on them. I mean, the lengths people will go to in order to justify terrible decisions is just absurd, especially since these people almost always handle it selectively depending on the color of your skin. There is a word for that. You do realize how shallow your thinking is, correct? You hear a popular excuse for why that population was rife with misinformation, and you lapped it up immediately because it fit your biases. The conspiracy theories are wide reaching, certainly not some narrow concern because of legitimate grievances. All this to say, this is why you and people like you support programs that don't work and haven't changed anything for that community. You stay willfully ignorant of their actual problems, because you are afraid that you would appear racist for daring to criticize their culture. No big surprise that since you fundamentally misunderstand the situation, your ideas and prescriptions for treating the problem never work out, even after decades and decades of trying. Now the common talking point is that 70 yeas isn't a long time, lol. It is just excuse after 6. It is so intellectually shallow.

@LordO-thPalace - Just to give an example of how silly you are, would you be excusing Europeans for not getting the vaccine because Thalidomide was once prescribed and caused birth defects? I mean, the state rushed a drug just to make money, so according to your logic they should forever be excused for not trusting basic science.

We can invest in their country like any other country. Give some preferential business treatment. But under no circumstances are we paying reparations. We can do that, so I think we should. But other than the bare commodities needed to stop a famine, I don't think we should be helping them. And then they will join their local brethren in blaming all of their problems on the white man. And, their demographic will continue to do terribly, rinse and repeat. I think at some point people will realize that they need to adopt a successful culture of work and education, whether it be Wesrern, Chinese, etx..etc... doesn't matter. What matters is that they stop making excuses, stop asking for handouts, and begin functioning normally in modern society. That will probably take a while, because right now they are focusing everywhere except where the actual problem is at.

I will keep it very simple, so I am guessing this is the point where you will move along. Are you telling me that you expect the thousand of cultures and ethnicities around the world, comprised of a set of variables enormously complex, to end up being equal in their development? That is your while premise. It goes like: Ethnicities and cultures should end up with roughly the same amount of wealth and success in life, otherwise it is evidence that they are being discriminated against. That is the extent of your position, because I know for a fact you cannot provide any scientific theory which shows we would all be similar in success if it wasn't for those darned racists. Why would you think that? What scientific evidence made you think that? I'll answer for you: None. You didn't use science to come to this conclusion, you were overwhelmed by pathos. But, by all means, try to explain to me that base assumption that cultures will end up roughly equal barring any discrimination. Why do you think certain cultures try so damn hard to promote certain values? Because it works! But here you are, saying it is literally ANYTHING except the obvious factual answer. So, I am guessing you will just not answer because you have no answer, but I would like very much if you would respond to this.

@nathanoneiric - Which ones are catching up? Africa and it's diaspora are notorious for doing badly compared to other nations/people. I threw that in there because you must believe that if you think all cultures will catch up and end up equal. Why would they? The whole point of some cultures is that their hard work and education will give them an advantage.
