@lotcam4046 - Come on dude. The Carthaginians would sacrifice their children by putting them in a barrel and rolling them over fire. It was a cruel world back then. Every tribe and group was looking to conquer others. The Germanic tribes and Steppe nomadic horse tribes would expand as much as they could. Same with the Scandinavians. A lot of them were more brutal than Rome. It was a brutal world of might makes right. It still is today, except nuclear weapons have stopped any large scale conflict so we have been fooled into thinking we are a naturally peaceful people with well defined borders. That isn’t how it was for 99.9% of humanity’s existence. Modern people are disconnected from the true harshness of human existence
