@bushmastersix4801 - We aren't in "deep shit". We are still the unchallenged hegemon. What is happening now is that the United States is having a hard time maintaining the system it built because the domestic population has shifted its priorities after the fall of a common enemy in the USSR. I would argue the EU is in a much more precarious position. They have funded their welfare states on the back of US security. As the US pulls out from these commitments and focuses more on internal issues, EU countries will have to step up their defense spending to fill the gap. With their budgets already saddled with so many social programs, something will have to give. I, for one, am glad that the US is turning inwards. They no longer need to be the world police, and a multipolar world will allow other countries to take up their rightful place as influential members in the world order. It will require some tough decisions for them, as they have had the luxury of focusing on the betterment of their own citizens while letting the US do the heavy lifting in foreign policy.

@OmarSlloum - Because the Royal Family works with the US and gives them intelligence on terrorists. They gave intelligence on Bin Laden before 9/11. Israel has been attacked by terrorists and its neighbors multiple times, and Hezbollah targets civilians. There is your answer. Its sad, Hezbollah thinks it can destroy Israel. That will never happen. Palestinians need to try and make peace and give up their right of return bullshit.

@ten_tego_teges - The thing about defense is you don't need it till you do. It is one area in which a rapid build up still requires a significant amount of time. If, say Russia or China wanted to take some land, they could do it in a matter of weeks, which is far too short a timescale for any kind of build up. Europe would simply have to spend more on defense if the US pulls away from the world order it is currently enforcing. I am not saying this as a point of pride for the US, I think it has been a mistake to to stay engaged in so many foreign lands for so long. The EU is rich enough to handle their own defense, the time of the US being the world police is coming to an end.

@yussefthe3rd - Yes, but a more multi-polar world would be a good thing in my opinion. It would motivate the United States to perform better, and it would give other countries a greater stake and responsibility in geopolitics. America would lose its unchallenged hegemony, but that is not necessarily a bad thing.

@Tessali666 - I never claimed we would turn isolationist overnight. Trump is extremely unpredictable and he does not follow a specific ideology. That said, although he may be a liar, he did campaign on the idea that the US should get out of the ME and stop getting involved in foreign issues. He simply didn't follow through with his promises, I know it is shocking. Like I said in another comment, we will have to overcome the inertia of the military industrial complex, and that can't happen overnight. But we are trending in that direction. Once other nations begin to assert themselves on the global stage with capable militaries, the whole pivot towards internal issues will happen even faster.

@Sam-es2gf - Many European countries rely on a low corporate tax rate in order to keep their economies afloat. That was the tradeoff for taxing individuals so highly to pay for the welfare state. You can't just jack up the corporate tax rate and still expect to stay competitive in a global market. Business will simply move somewhere else. European already have issues with their economies, they are becoming rigid because of their rigid because of their stringent worker protections and have had a hard time keeping up with other countries since the 2008 financial crash. Just raising taxes may sound good, but it is not that simple, otherwise it would have already been done.

NATIONALIST #PATRIOT - Jesud you are all over the place. You act as if black communities being poor is what is keeping them back, as if that is some unique thing for black people. Every ethnicity started out poor when they immigrated to America, it is the culture behind the ethnicity which allows some to succeed and some to flounder. Generally speaking, black culture does not value education as much as other ethnicities, so there is little chance for them to break the cycle of poverty. And it isn't because they are underfunded, Baltimore, for example, has nearly the highest amount of school funding in the country because of special federal programs. Same thing with Detroit. It hasn't helped one bit, because the students dont value education. You can hem and haw all day long making excuses, but it is a problem with black culture in America. They love to blame white people for everything while never taking a hard look at themselves. It feels good for them to be able to blame everything on racism, but sadly it just means they will be stuck in the same situation because they have not identified the real problem.

NATIONALIST #PATRIOT - Actually, black people have to work half as hard as whites and asians. Affirmative action ensures that their scores only need to be a certain fraction of a white person's score, and Asians have it the worst since they do so well in school. Companies also receive federal benefits for "diversity", which means that they are eager to hire black people and you actually have an easier chance to get a job if you are black. I am a chemist, and my company desperately wanted to hire a black chemist because of the federal programs, but there were literally none that applied. So, this whole "need to work twice as hard" is just an example of how black culture has a victimhood mentality which has nothing to do with reality. The simple fact is, if they would just work hard at school and make even somewhat decent grades, they could sail through college and a career. The bar is that low for them, but it still hasn't pulled many black people out of poverty because even that isnt enough. Now, people like Coates just want direct deposits into black people's bank accounts. It is pathetic. Black people only have themselves to blame, but God knows they will blame whitey, the CIA, the illuminati, etc... basically anyone but themselves. It is comical at this point, it is like dealing with children, "Yes dear, the big bad white man has kept you down, you have it so much harder than anyone else, if you stay out of prison that is worth celebrating in itself!". Give me a fucking break.

@chintakgurjar8426 - That is just hubris. Of course countries can pressure you. Countries can pressure the US, no country is immune. The question is, what will your long term strategy be. Pretty soon, you will have to decide between the West and China/Russia. I understand the US has done you wrong in the past, but you will have to make a decision at some point. The West is coalescing around a position against Russia and China right now, you won't be able to sit on the fence forever. I hope you guys grow and develop into a strong country, whatever path you choose.

The West is asking India to align with democracies oj these issues so that the world can have a cohesive bloc of democracies to stand up to authoritarian leaders.
