@unfortunateson5016 - Communism destroyed the USSR. Ask a Latvian, or a Lithuanian, or ...

Adi Adiani - What the fuck did I just read?

Problem is, if you don't utilize the best technology around the world, you will quickly fall behind as Russia has. Their own industries just don't stand up to the combined industrial production of Western nations.

@andrewhomo2461 - No, it isn't. They are a petrol based economy, which is the sign of a more primitive economy. When the price of oil crashed, their GDP crashed, and it crashed hard. That is something that wouldn't happen in the US. We are the world's largest exporter of energy and when oil crashed, some of our companies and stocks crashed, but it didn't have a huge effect on the GDP because we are a service based economy that doesn't rely on oil to prop us up. Russia is basically a large gas station run by the mafia parading around like a country at thus point. Their GDP is smaller than Italy.

@keirandunwoodie8138 - That was from the beginning of the project, it has improved a lot since that pilot made that statement. Besides, stealth is the key, not dogfighting prowess. The F-35 could kill you before you even see it.

@andrewhomo2461 - Their GDP crashed when oil prices crashed, so they were married to their oil and gas exports. They have not significantly improved their economy because all of the sanctions and wrong steps by the government. I am not pushing propaganda, that is just the reality of things. They still aren't nearly as competitive in the world market as an advanced country would be. Their GDP per capita is absolutely abysmal, and that has barely changed. It even got worse for a bit after oil prices crashed.

@Mohammad Javid - lol, how are your little speed boats... I mean how is your Navy doing? Better run along now, might see a woman's hair here on Youtube and we all know how you dumb fucks are scared to death of that.

@Stevethethird677 - Maybe I should ask him to say it again in Farsi so it makes sense.. I mean, I get the gist of it, but I hope no one sounds like that when using their native language.
2
@andrewhomo2461 - That isn't a good thing. Have you studied economics? Advanced countries transition to service based economies, or knowledge based economies. Mid level or less advanced countries have all of the manufacturing. This is because capital is used as efficiently as possible, and it is cheaper for manufacturing in countries with low wages. Automation will eventually change this, but we aren't there yet. All that says is that Russia couldn't transition to a service based economy and revered to a manufacturing based economy. They didn't have the technological knowledge to move up, which is required in service based economies where knowledge is more valuable than producing things.

Iraq had the 4th largest army when the US attacked them. How did that work out?
1
Yeahweat thebuffet - Not 1991, 2003.
1
Yeahweat thebuffet - Iran would be tougher, no question about that. A lot of Americans would die, but America would ultimately win. Is that worth possibly saving millions of people from an Iranian nuke? Who knows.
1
Yeahweat thebuffet - My brother did two tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, and he would like nothing more than to see the Ayatollah swinging from a rope. He thinks he lost some friends because of Iranian backed militias. If it was just their usual bullshit of meddling in the ME, I would say to leave them alone as the cost would not be worth it. But they are going for nuclear weapons and that changes the calculus.
1
@mohasendeli1563 - Iran would clearly be decimated by the US, that isnt even in question. The question is whether or not the sacrifice in money or lives would be worth it.
1
@realnapster1522 - Lol, what are you smoking? Russia could never, ever come close to the production of the West. What an absurd statement.
1
I think the fear isnt that we wont be touched, but rather that Iran would actually be willing nuke the US if they get nuclear weapons, and that sacrifices now could literally save millions of lives.
