I moved to Florida in1992 from St Louis. Best decision I've ever made, it took me a couple years to get use to, but after that I was off and running. So much to do, so many beaches, it took me the better part of a decade to explore the entire state. Once I was done I wanted to do it all over again. Not to mention you're just a hop, slip and a jump from the Caribbean.

@Toothpirate1979 Spoken like a tourist, most of us who live here don't do that tourist BS. I've lived in the Midwest growing up, I don't need to see the leaves change, been there done that. I spent most of my adult life driving all over the country in all types of weather for 32yrs. I'm not impressed by mountains or wide open spaces, been there done that. I love warm weather, can't stand the cold or snow. I'll rather lay on the beach in Florida or some tropical island in the Caribbean and do nothing rather than rake leaves or shovel snow. What you may call static I call it my happy place, home. Remember we're all different, we all have different tastes, what appeals to you might not get a second thought or look from me. I hate lake fishing, but will go deep-sea fishing on the Gulf or ocean in a hot second. I'll break out the boat a hit the sandbar, sit and watch the sunset with my wife and a mojito, pure enjoyment. Hop on my motorcycle and ride the coast all around the peninsula. Get in the boat and go from Tampa to Key West hugging the coast. Different, not static.

@onionhead5780 Yes, yes, yes, people move here all the time complaining about how different it is from where they came from. Wasn't that the whole idea of moving in the first place, to try something new, meet new people, explore different cultures. I agree with you totally if you're not going to open yourself up to new experiences then why move in the first place? When I moved to Florida in 92 I couldn't even swim, after two years I was swimming like a fish, snorkeling, scuba diving. There's so many things I tried and learnd after moving to Florida that I would've never made an effort to do or try before moving here.

Alaska? Never been, will never be going either. Anywhere there's cold and snow I will never be going there. Spent way too many years driving across country in snow and ice freezing my butt off to never want to see or be in it ever again in my life. Only time I want to see snow is on TV during a football game or the Winter Olympics.

Here we go again with Florida and the hurricanes. In January when you're suffering from lake affect snow I'm laying on the white sand of Clearwater beach in swim trunks my wife in a bikini a mojito in my hand enjoying the sunset. To each it's own, enjoy the snow.
