It all depends on where you live, I live in Tampa well a suburb of Tampa Lutz. Now downtown Tampa the prices are getting higher than it used to be. In the suburbs it's a bit cheaper, depending on the sqft. If you're expecting a cheap 5000sqft a pool on a quarter acre, don't hold your breath that ain't gonna happen. You can find a modest 2000sqft 2 bedroom in a decent area at a good price. There's. 2 keys to live well in Florida is. One: The farther from the coast the cheaper it becomes. Two: Live within your means, don't compete with the Jones's. (Example) Don't buy a BMW when you can only afford a Toyota.

@rogersmith7396 Yeah but most of the southern states have them too, anywhere you go have it's own set of issues. People in the midwest always talk about the hurricanes we have but they have tornadoes. At least with a hurricane you get a week or week and a half warning, there your sitting watching TV and tornado sits down on your house, with 15 minute or less warning. When I lived there it was a common belief. If you hear the sirens it's already on the ground. The west is going through a 1000yr drought, but it's mostly a dessert with hardly any rain and little fresh water. Too many states depending on a hand full of water sources, I'm surprised they didn't see that one coming. Every place has it's own set of problems. The million dollar question is, if you can deal with it or not?

@rogersmith7396 I know I've lived in Florida since 92 moved to Coral Springs right before Andrew. Homestead and south Miami was almost wiped off the map. But after that I saw a few but not every year maybe 5 or 6yrs or so but nothing like Andrew. Been living in Lutz FL for almost 6yrs and nothing but rain and winds as they passed by in the gulf headed towards the panhandle. When I remodeled my entire home before my wife and I moved in it had to be updated to present hurricane standards. As for the people out west I feel for them, but they've been going through a drought since the late 80s. If over 30yrs of drought wasn't a hint I don't know what is.
