  1. Years ago I did voluntary work at my local hospital ( which then had an A&E department!). I used to deal with the medical notes to be put in patient folders daily before the Dr's did their rounds. The ward was for the elderly. The amount of Nurses stuck around the middle main desk, chatting or taking breaks both irritated & angered me, especially at lunch time when few helped the elderly ladies with their dinners, often placed in tables too far for them to reach. I used to help as much as I could but even 30 years ago, the NHS was in a dire situation then. It hasn't got better even with £billions wasted on it!
