@BadOompaloompa79 Why though when we could just produce liquid fuels that are carbon neutral? The human race never goes backwards by choice and never will.

@kubajadrzak1123 It's height has nothing to do with it not functioning correctly and it does function correctly as they planned it not to have sewage hookups as it's cheaper for them to move it away by truck so you are wrong twice.

@davidanderson_surrey_bc Cool story kid.

Why? Almost all the materials would be headed down the gravity well. Just drop it.

@olencone4005 I don't think he was insulting you but actually hitting on you awkwardly.
3
@aaronallblacks He'd still be wrong then.

@venataciamoon2789 Except that cancer is hurting a living being whereas we would be spreading life to lifeless rocks. We are the genitals of the Earth, not a disease.

@Marylandbrony Why, exactly, couldn't trillions of people live in space and in other bodies? Why would the population stabilize when there is thousands of times more resources and energy? Every other time mankind has found new land and resources our population grows. Why would this be different? Any reasoning at all?

@matthewwoolhouse3829 Yes, but they life would be empty. It's so much fuller feeling the body of another sliding into my gut.

@reentrysfs6317 What do space catapults have to do with sky hooks? Also, when I looked into it the only paper I found discussing the g forces experienced on a sky hook says it's like 1.5 g max. "Non-Synchronous Orbital Skyhooks for the Moon and Mars with Conventional Materials" - Hans Moravec 1978 I would love to see your source though.

Yeah, you can simply assume everyone is armed here.

You're a fan of the company that spread PFAS everywhere? What kind of ghoul are you??

Hundreds of thousands did die. Have some respect for the dead.

@vandyke5773 Alright, label yourself as a low life. Your choice.

@johnwade7842 No, it requires change in velocity, not fuel. Shoot the material from your mine earthwards using a rail gun. No fuel required. No space elevator needed. Just a big metal bin full of whatever raw material you've mined whipped homewards.
1
@johnwade7842 Solar sails would be a fuel free option as well if slower is an option. These can be sped up using lasers in orbit or on the ground if needed. No fuel needed as well.
1
@johnwade7842 Far easier than a space elevator, which was the point. No one suggested we could do this tomorrow using existing technology.

@reentrysfs6317 Literally no one is talking about human transportation. Space catapults or rail guns are not at all like sky hooks. Rail guns use electromagnets to accelerate a conductive payload down a linear rail. A sky hook is a giant rotating tether that can pick up items off the ground and rotate them into space. This would not create hundreds of g's. Why would it? You would match speed with the sky hook. You wouldn't be jerked from zero speed. Sky hooks also wouldn't be useful for transporting materials mined in space to Earth, which is the discussion. No people or sky hooks are involved.
1
@reentrysfs6317 Remember that the subject was the OP's suggestion that heavy space industry isn't possible without space elevators, not the transportation of people.

By that logic it's also a great idea to kill everyone on their 30th birthday. Maybe don't require the deaths of billions for your social progress, Mao.

Is this like a video game or something? Sounds dumb.

They dissolve into water and form chloride and hypochlorous acid. If the water also has sodium ions then when the water dries it will form NaCl or salt.

My UFO story is embarrassing in that I didn't even think to take a picture before it was too late. I was camping with my girlfriend at Mount Lassen State Park in ~2013 and got up from my tent to pee at about 3am. As I was trying to pee I heard a noise of something traveling through the air above and behind me, a soft whooshing sound over the trees. I looked straight up and saw a dark triangle moving directly over me with the point in the direction of travel (east), and a dim soft-white (~2000k) light at each corner. I couldn't really tell how big it was or how high it was because there was nothing for scale and it was just a black shape blotting out stars with lights at the corners. It made no sound except for the air moving past it. It continued to the east over the next ridge in the span of about 30 seconds, quick but not all that fast. I just stood there with my mouth open and my dick in my hand, too shocked to do anything before it went over the ridge. It was too quick. I woke up my girlfriend but I had nothing to show her. Still kicking myself that I didn't scream or something. I have no idea what it was that I saw but it certainly didn't need to be aliens. I guess it could have been a drone but it was silent? No propeller noise.

Who could possibly think soccer is anywhere even close to as hard as rocket science or brain surgery??? any sport<any science.

Such as? Please, provide sources too.

At least the rising sea levels should put out some of the coal fires.

Thanks for the explanation, I had never heard of this movie before your video. Not everyone has or logs onto their Netflix anymore.

Regenerative... what? It's an adjective.
