The flu or any virus never entirely goes away until it is eradicated, which is too difficult to do with certain very contagious ones. The number of infected people just varies. Certain viruses wait in animal hosts while others lie dormant in humans until they can infect others. Did you drop out of grade school or something? This is little kid stuff. Herpes has been with humans for millions of years, for example. Go to school, please.
