  1. The power per unit volume is too small for that. Same reason you can't have efficient individual pumped hydro. The economy of scale and square/cube law is how this manages to work. If you have 200x the space a powerwall takes up, then it might be ok. He shows how large a tesla car battery would be using this system at 10:36.

  2. No. He literally went over this in the video with a hilarious graphic at 10:36. The energy density is 200 times lower than lithium ion batteries meaning they would be 200x larger for the same amount of energy. Think a AA battery being the size of a baseball bat.
