re·li·gion
rəˈlijən/
noun
noun: religion
the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
If you believe in any gods, you're religious by definition. It doesn't matter if you do or do not subscribe to any particular set of beliefs, if they are supernatural in nature and involve gods, it's a religious belief. Throwing away most or all of the canon of the christian faith and either cherry picking or assigning values to your idea of a god doesn't make your position any more logical or founded on evidence.
The fact is, there is not one single mystery that has ever been solved that turned out to be magic and not one supernatural religious claim has ever shown to be true. Even if you are a deist and just have some vague feeling that there should be a creator for something so big as the universe because, "How else could it get there?" you're just using the argument from ignorance fallacy. There are no gods, no leprechauns, no Santa Claus nor is there a cat-eating-alien named Alf . I can say this because these claims are not backed by evidence, the time to believe in something is when you have evidence of such.
Only religion can make otherwise good people do horrific acts such as this, as only religion can get you to throw away your logical reasoning; to no longer require evidence for your beliefs means that you can starve a toddler to death or burn a woman alive or crush a man to death for being a witch. Religion, in all its forms, is evil because it is the enemy of logic.
