The government is literally the only entity that can be trusted with quality control with any product at all so not wanting government product control on potentially deadly drugs that people are going to have either way sounds insane. Also, who but the government would regulate quality control? DO you think private companies et up those standards or somehow that illegal producers have better standards than the government? People are going to have their drugs, whatever their choice of drug may be. You can choose whether they get them safely through legal channels or dangerously and funding terrorism. You cannot choose for the drugs to not be sold. The war on drugs hasn't reduced drug use in any way and has killed millions over the decades. It is a useless, murderous, and illogical waste of time, money, and resources for mankind.
