Why not just mine the basalt, grind it up into a slurry, pump air through it so it reacts, then dump the result into the ocean? Other than burying everything near the outlet?

@huehuecoyotl2 You could use non-carbon based energy sources to mine and grind basalt just as easily and then you wouldn't need to inject it offshore. You would then have loads of carbonate rock to build with for example. Building with this rock and having it on the surface instead of being underground under the sea would have the added benefit of it absorbing acid in the rainfall. Yes, your structure would erode over time but limestone (carbonate) structures last for centuries and would ultimately end up out at sea anyways as runoff. We could and probably should do both.
