  2. stmounts Look at the link I showed, creating AC directly without an inverter is possible, just not with today's technology.

  3. stmounts Why is it stupid in your opinion? Its not even currently possible to build, but when we develop the materials it would eliminate the need for a transformer and reduce losses.

  4. stmounts You clearly didn't read the paper and have dismissed it out of hand. It describes a way to more efficiently create a an AC wave using mechanical means, meaning that PV cells can generate AC, period. The problem is that the wheels need to be 2460 microns or smaller to be more efficient, which is not currently possible. If you'd actually read the paper you'd know you were wrong ahead of time and not looked such a fool.
