+Illuminati_watching Just skip growing the animal entirely and only grow the parts we eat. We don't need them to have brains or guts or nervous systems (head cheese lovers aside), we can now grow only the parts we want to eat and save huge amounts of resources. The cost of lab grown meat has gone down dramatically recently as well http://www.fastcoexist.com/3044572/the-325000-lab-grown-hamburger-now-costs-less-than-12

I don't know why China would bother with cloning the whole animal when you could just grow the edible parts in a vat and never kill or feed the entire animal. It doesn't even need to have a brain or nervous system. The tech is already in development to grow replacement human organs from your own cells, the same technology is now already being applied to growing meat for food. Costs are coming down stupid fast too. A lab grown hamburger that once cost $325,000 to produce now costs only $10, soon it may be cheaper than normal meat. http://www.fastcoexist.com/3044572/the-325000-lab-grown-hamburger-now-costs-less-than-12 So what do you think about guilt-free meat that would cost far less in resources to make than regular meat and one day might be growable in a vat in your home vegans/vegetarians?

+5micky2 Or, you don't clone the whole animal and just grow muscle and fat in a vat. Vat-meat is on the way, you can keep your disgusting soy paste/jelly, I'm going to eat meqat that never was an animal. No ethical problems, and you control how much fat grows in the flesh. Eventually there will be home-use meat vats, you won't even have to go out, grow it at home like plants but better, tastier.

Voltaire Slapadelic They didn't grow any fat cells so it was pretty flavorless, but those can be added.

5micky2 Yeah, I don't know why they're bothering with the whole animal.

Snaiper Suji Mayne Try $12, read the linked article. It also didn't taste very good because it is pure protein, no fat. Fat cells can be added in for flavor. What isn't true?

Cero Ashura Cost has gone from $325,000 to $12 a patty in 2 years, this won't even take one generation, let alone 4-5. Think 10 years until it's in the store, a bit longer before you have a home unit.
