  1. Not duplicitous, he hasn't betrayed anyone. He's simply a politician who's navigating the landscape trying to find profit for his country. Not moral but quite common in politics. Zelensky met with him and Ukraine had the chance to explain their stance to him. They're showing they have a just cause, respect for other countries and are able and willing to communicate normally. A good thing to have done IMHO.

  2. It's a democracy in which castes play a role but they're not omnipotent. And it's a democracy with question marks, possibly on its way to autocracy. But it's not autocracy.
