  1. What makes them think this is purely a military strategy? Ukrainians know their best chance of defeating Russia is pressing the weak points of the economy and political system. What if there´s an official who doesn´t like Putin and is thinking of staging a coup, and he´s exactly the official who Putin will scream at for allowing the offensive to happen? This might push him over the edge and create chaos in Russia. Or, this is a diversion for a much bigger action somewhere else.
