  2. "That Latvian dude's" name is Kristaps Andrejsons and I understood everything. English isn't my first language, I'm not Latvian, yet I understood. He has a popular podcast that people obviously understand, if they keep listening to it. I think there's something wrong with your understanding.

  3. Perhaps, we´ll see what Ukrainians think about this. But they've been writing with the Cyrillic alphabet for a thousand years. They were writing with the Cyrillic alphabet before Russia even existed. Also, it's not just Russia who writes with the Cyrillic alphabet. It's also Belarus, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Serbia and Bulgaria.

  4.  @johnhunter8896  And that was based on the writing system invented by Greek missionaries in 840's in what is today's Czechia, just a stone's throw from today's Austria. So yes, it has very non-Russian origins. (We Czechs dropped it almost immediately and switched to Latin. The missionaries´ disciples then went to Bulgaria and changed the script to make it the Cyrillic alphabet.)
