It's supposed to be one of those phases in life, and wow I think it was a part of the problem in my last marriage. Plus our son has autism and is mostly non-verbal, you see then you lose your wife because he must have her attention. I became more like a gopher than a husband. It's sad when I look back. Freedom is a great thing - you have to have me time. Now today I will pick up my son and he can spend the entire day with me. Women are pretty far down my list anymore.

  25.  @thisreallysucksbig  It seems like we've been tested sometimes. There are evil forces and there are good ones, and this is why I believe in the spiritual world. Those that are strong can survive, and yes become an even better person from it and possibly help others. Some men avoid the commitment of marriage simply because of fear of the unknown; more like an instinct not to. I used to think they lacked something but now I understand. Yes let's not use the blame angle much if at all. My ex still works from that place but I was lucky my parents had few problems and I never saw them do this if I can remember. It's not really a Christian way either. Still, many cannot forgive and forget and for me I don't dwell on the past especially the negative but I don't forget what happened either.

In my case I'm glad that I have a couple kids but really it's in how you raise them too. There are too many broken families now but there are still a lot of good ones too.

  48.  @kgoblin5084  Yeah they're usually quite dumb! I mean the gold-diggers.... I was a technician in slots repair in Atlantic City for around a decade. Pretty much my 20's and then I burnt out in the business. So then in the late 90's I joined the US Army, I was already married a few months at the time. I served as a mechanic and then electronics tech in the military for 12 years. When I got out I had a problem getting employment I was in my mid 40's already and I think that was the reason. So then I served another 8 years in the Army Reserves for part-time income. I was still an E-5 (SGT) even until I retired 4 years ago. I've been divorced a coupl eyears ago too, we had many difficulties in our marriage and were separated more than 5 years so I applied for the divorce. I always made sure our kids were fine though, we have two and now they are grown. I'm in my mid fifties now, I'm ony 5'7" and been bald a long time. So most women aren't interested but I'm pretty well off, so I don't even care to be honest.
