When I was younger my father told me I should join. He said "it will make a man out of you." Well you don't argue with a man that was drafted at 20 and went into World War 2, and was there for 5 years. But you know what he's right that still applies today. And I'm glad he died several years ago so he didn't have to see what's going on in the Army now.

Can you post something here that proves it. The Army Supply Sergeant could simply do a field loss form for the items because of the circumstances. It's signed off by the Company Commander, a Captain. I served in the Army for 20 years so don't bull shit me son.

@interestedparty497 He wasn't speaking about the military though, he said the ENTIRE United States.

The Air Force pay charts are called base pay. There's more pay than that your housing is covered, and really so is your food. And utilities are covered too. You can add about 2 grand to those base pays. I know because I served in the active duty Army for 12 years. I was an E-5 / SGT and it was the best "job" I ever had. That's because it's more than a job. Your point about not gettnig a home and all that - you forgot about the VA home loan. Nothing down and get approved according to your pay. It's called a guaranteed VA home loan. You use this usually when you're leaving the service after you get a job and all that. I used mine even before I left the Army.

@derekhollars8985 Great choice of words, and freedom isn't free, and this young man is a hero to many of us. God Bless him and his family.

@ottohumpmachine8958 Uh and America's borders because until the dems are out, it reamins a mostly open border and border policy.

@ironsurvival7011 Don't disrespect me young dude.

@Shadow_Banned_Conservative Thanks for your service, exactly. My service was like your last sentence too. I think it was mostly good, I learned a hell of a lot.

What if you all weren't self employed and doing well? I served Army for 12 years, and 8 Army Reserves. I was an E-5 / SGT. So now I have a retirement plan. For some people it's fine, for others it's not but there are benefits that can help them in life. Like the college benefit, and the VA home loan program. Not every vet will tell you not to join.
3
Okay but what did yo do for work? Did you go to college instead? For some people the military becaomes a career, it's not Walmart okay.
3
That's to get the benefits, including monetary (VA Comp) that they're entitled too. Yes in requires some proof like medical records, and I made afew VA claims and have had great sucess but some took a few years to come through.
2
@pitbossea I served Army for 12 years - active duty and 8 in the Reserves. I've been set for life since I was 54. You are telling the truth it's good to see it.

@moonpleiades99 You don't casually put on a soldiers dress uniform (especially in public) for any reason unless you served. Pride is the first thing a soldier has. Too many died trying to defend our country. It's his grandpa so if he wants to do that off camera that's okay. But you don't do it casually on camera, there is no mockery here, no fun to be made of the service, any branch of it. It's called Honor and something this latest generation is sorely lacking. So Jack doesn't know squat about the military and some of the bozos speaking negatively about it are the same. I served for 12 years active duty Army and I'll argue with anybody that wants some.

If therer's a draft you'll see those standards lowered overnight. If there's actually a war the standards will go wayyyyy lower. Your ass is in fatty!

The Army stopped using those type of class A dress uniform hats around 20 years ago. We changed it to berets. Jack doesn't know that, and that's just the beginning.

The veteran at the end... the man on a rant is VA rated all the way (100%). So he gets $3800 a month comp and untaxable, and says he's not taken care of. And his medical is taken care of too. And in this great country he's free to rant like that. God Bless the USA.

@fernyv4368 When you leave the service it's recorded in a database at - say you were Army. Then the records are at Army HRC, if you can establish proof of service from there I'll bet they wouldn't be homeless too long. You can't just be like I'm a vet, You need your ID made at a VA hospital, so that way you're covered for any medical emergency, and you (I mean they) will have that VA ID, a veteran's ID. I did all these things myself and then did some medical claims and they got approved. If someone is mentally ill he would need assistance with all of this. I believe the mentally ill stay homeless, and street drugs helps them stay where they are, and I don't know if there's a percentage of them that are truly veterans. I'm sure it isn't that high a percentage.

@rafmatt1607 It's a long story, and I get your point. I'm always surprised at how different GenZers are compared to even millenials. There's really nothing that can be done except that if SHTF, like so many preppers think it will then real chaos and change will happen. My daughter is a GenZer but she always respected me and now 24 years old. She needs some firearms training ya know just in case.

@ironsurvival7011 You're immature that's why I called you that, and your story is pure speculation - it's bullshit. And you buy in to Jack's BS too. He doesn't know about the military.

@ironsurvival7011 Fair enough, after I thought more about it, it's true sometimes soldiers and marines could get charged for losing their gear. Well part of that reason is I saw a soldier or two that took some of their gear even to a pawn shop, this was around the year 2000, I was stationed in Colorado then, Then I heard him in the Captain's - Company commanders office and he was like "Oh please Sir", because the Captain found out that the Specialist's gear was missing. Like his kelvar (helmet) and more. The supply SGT did a statement of charges on him for the equipment, it was at least a grand. And the Captain cut him some slack, the E-4 / soldier probably went back and got it!! So that is the system but if stuff is lost in field training, the Supply SGT does have a field loss form. I saw this in a combat arms unit. There are other types of units that don't even go to the field and they will have less equipment and most likely no field loss form unless their supply Sergeant accomodates them.

@joshuaortiz2031 I have some of it too. Kinda cool to have it!!
1
@ironsurvival7011 I like to think so, most that serve just do the one enlistment and then use all the benefits they earned. Nothing wrong with that, it serves them well.
1
@RetroreviewsPlus I wonder if the Generals or an Admiral told Biden, Sir there's something wrong with the order of this withdrawel. If he did it without any counsel then I agree with your statement. The Generals and Admiral(s) in the Pentagon are there for a reason, otherwise they should just step down, live on their pensions.

That's the National Guard, they usually are just the homeland. Jack could go join the National Guard today but he won't. He's not really educated about the US Army, or any other branch. I can say this because I served in the active Army for 12 years. Some famous people served in the Army Reserves like Tom Selleck, Jimmy Stewart and Richard Karn (Home Improvement).

@RIGHTNOW108 Well that's what you're saying, no prob.
