I got a 1999 Corolla with 152K miles on it for a grand. Perfect engine and transmission. Put $1800 in it for front wheel bearings and 1 linkage. Have had it 2 years now for a second car. White paint but it looks very good. Now it has 180K miles on it - well worth the money.

Just get the repo man, it won't last.

What's the big deal about getting old and dying with some credit card debt? Okay, come to the afterlife and collect it from me!!!! LMAO

Not bad.. What's the big deal about getting old and dying with some credit card debt? Okay, come to the afterlife and collect it from me!!!! LMAO

And 72 payments. My loan is that long too at a similar interest rate.
3
Same, I got a VA loan for 190K in 2021. Low interst rate - fixed. $940 a month with homeowners insurance. Now that much for an SUV, hell no!!!!!

It's living the American dream. Something a friend of mine said way back around 1990. Some of us got a bankruptcy attorney and just went backrupt, It gives you a clean slate.

She'll eventually get to you and you'll answer.

@thealienwatcher540 The problem is having kids for the wrong reasons. Everyone should be able to take care of themselves before bringing a baby into the world. The child should have a mother AND a FATHER that loves him or her. It should never be to get federal benefits like Welfare and SNAP. If he chooses not to help his sister because she's doing the wrong thing then you can't really shame him for that.
2
So you could say your 07 Hybrid is still low mileage at 158K!!
2
@MFEeee I agree that buying good used vehicles are the best way. I'm at $419 a month now and it was a used SUV. But I got it at not the best time - they were overcharging 2 years ago. I can still afford it though but it's the max I could do. What I'm seeing on here is ridiculous.
2
@BruceLee-xn3nn In 2005 that's high end. Even 400 a month seems high. And that insurance makes it not even worth it.
2
@Indianamal574 200 months!!! 😆😮 Just messin.'
2
@discdoggie Virginia, The city is Fredericksburg.
2
All she has to do is stop making payments around year 8 and let them repo it.
2
@PopRox Awesome they were (I mean are) amazing. Better than the new ones - simplicity.

@TheG60528XiJinPing Not a loser mobile in reality. These can last 20 years.

@heyzoocifer1392 Well you did have a connection to the auction. I know a mechanic that will get me a decent deal if I need one.
1
@davidhutchinson5233 I remember when Crown Vics were cop cars. You're right about the Merc Marquis, good observation.

It's true there's a fine line that it's not worth working your ass off, when you can ditch one of your two jobs. So then making lower income and then getting SNAP (fooid benefits) for your family.

@lisahertel2415 I used the 0% offers on one credit card to pay off a large balance on another card. That way I can get at least a year, possibly 18 months without interest charges on where the balance got moved to - card. Then I try to pay it down as much as possible. But the truth is when you die it's tough for them to get the balances due them. I have everything in this world and adult enough to not go out and put 30 grand worth of stuff on my cards!!! Just saying but I wonder what someone with 6 months to live might do. Probably take a 2 week cruise trip somewhere, all plastic!!

@wakinglife7065 I'm pretty old myself. 60 years old. Retired from Army Reserves, but was only an E-5. That was the last 8 years there, before that 12 years active duty (Army). Retired from the Reserves in 2018, and I did gig driving jobs since around 2014, or they were 1099 jobs. There was VA Compensation since 2010 when I left active duty. And I increased VA Comp by filing claims. I was separated from my wife and 2 children but fully supporting them. The pandemic pushed me into full retirement and pension (not large) it began last summer. But I'm done, my passion is playing bass and singing backups in a classic rock n' roll band. And I'm making that happen.

You're actually living the American dream, congratulations.

@mrcassonova1 💯Make sure you have a coffee machine at home, and get a 33 ounce can (plastic) of Folgers, and liquid creamer in the fridge. And that $14 can of coffee makes at least 22 POTS of coffee.
1
@hcox1111 Wow LMAO!!! 😆 This is bucket list debt.
1
@starspaceschool587 I get it.
1
@unidentifiedx4319 Well 47 payments to go. It's 419 a month but I'll make it.
1
If your friend can't get them then she already makes too much? If she's young maybe she should just join the military. I can say that because I did. I got 3 hits and a cot. Paid job training, rent paid and worked fairly hard but you'll get more back. Well yeah you take your chances but really you do as a civilian anyway.
1
@Txcowboy80 I did one myself in 1993, it gives you a clean slate.
1
@kurifodomokuzai6667 Now 72 months is the norm I think. Yeah that was an excellent deal for a Trans Am. A A Smokey and The Bandit one - a sexy car.
1
@hachi-rokuperformancegroup3987 Yes, but some were impacted not in a negative way, like yourself. I guess fate is decided by the higher power, the Lord above.
1
@Koiyo16 Probably not even fake!!! And the guy goes alright only 324. 😆🤑
1
@Tonyx.yt. 😆🤯😮😠🙊 no way 💩💩💩💩💩💩💩💀

So your Mom earned her social security and the others you mention are kind of scamming the system. It's not enough money, I get it but this guy should be working and more than one job because he chose to bring kids into this crazy world. Got to man up. He sould join the military he'll certainly be able to take care of his kids financially. I did it myself and it worked. I was US Army I went in at age 33 and served for 12 years. The I did another 8 years Army Reserves sure it's tough but I took care of my family. Getting tired of the bullshit about these kind of people.

@Omega-s6s In warm climates, maybe a woman like her could go a decade from 70. But this winter had some really rough times. Like 8 degrees at night, I live in Virginia and remember last week. If something goes wrong with the car she'd be a goner.
1
@bhaalgorn My 22 year old son is a level 3 autistic. So I go to my ex-wifes almost every day and I'm his caregiver. I'm 60 now and I'm his caregiver. It's full time hours but the system pays me about half of them. I'm a retired veteran so it's okay. To be honest, I don't always like what I'm doing, but I'd love to see him make some progress because he's my son. There's always hope.
1
@cjhoward409 I hear that people are maxing their cards, and here in America it's over a trillion dollar balance!! Great to hear you're taking care of your kids with that final decision!! God bless you and the family.
1
@Cheesus-Sliced Agreed, I'm 60 now and I never in my life had I heard of banana republic loans like this! 😮😠
1
@Cheesus-Sliced The thing is, and what you wrote is 100% true but it should never be more than 72 months. The term length of her loan is 324 months!!! WHY!?? Just because they felt like it. No reason. So I think it's a crime.
1
@Cheesus-Sliced She needs an SUV that bad?! She should have walked out and tried several. Even Buy Here Pay Here is better than that.
1
@steelinvestment8553 Using your skillsets like that is the best way to prosper. You're headed towards success.
1
They do and an increase are like getting a promotion!!
1
My 2019 NIssan Rouge is 419 a month!!
1
@ericshang7744 And she's willing to pay that rate for 27 years. Paying 158 grand for a Nissan Rogue!!! 🤪😵💩💩💩💩💩
1
@arby977 FYI - I got a 1999 Corolla with 152K miles on it for a grand. Perfect engine and transmission. Put $1800 in it for front wheel bearings and 1 linkage. Have had it 2 years now for a second car. White paint but it looks very good. Now it has 180K miles on it - well worth the money.

@bubba842 NOt really, a great condition japanese car from that time period is worth it. And it was probably built there.
