@bxi1547 Agreed, I'm a veteran myself. And I started in the Army at the age of 33. After service I used every benefit I earned from serving (honorable discharge). I had a lot of issues finding and keeping a job many times maybe because I was 45 when I got out. So I used the Post 911 GI Bill, which means my housing was easily paid for when I did the college courses (business), so I could support my wife and kids. We ended up with a divorce well there were a lot of problems in our mariage, like our son was disabled with autism, which means that his mom has to be home and available for him. I had 2 or 3 jobs after getting the Bachelors degree in Business, and I still served in The Reserves. I was just a Sergeant - E/5, not much rank really. I personally think the draft should be brought back - ALL young people should serve at last 3 years. There's way too many damn lazy people but the other half do have legit problems. As for veterans on the street - go to the VA and start filling out VA claims forms, and get the medical coverage that is provided free starting with a VA hospital.
Veterans are treated great in the USA, I'm living proof but you must speak up, not just complain -
Veterans (other than Dishonorable discharge) use your benefits ASAP.

Then when I hit my mid 40's and both of my parents were gone it's like well
I now have nobody I can turn to. I was going through a divorce on top of it and
left the US Arrmy after 12 years of service. I entered at an older age I was 33.
So with the problems I had with my wife and our kids were still young we had
in our mid to late 30's so I had a mountain of responsibility, I could not transition into a decent job due to age discrimmination and a tough economy too.
I did transfer into the Army Reserves a Sergeant in order to continue service (now 45 years old) - and have some kind of a career. And my son is autistic low functioning and so
my wife had to deal with it, and also our take care of daughter who was normal thank God.
So my wife had to do a lot while I was working at what was now gig jobs and a Reservist a weekend a month. Our relationship grew more and more distant and I had to
recover from being stabbed in the right arm by her. I had to have surgery in the back of the bicep area when the median artery is, and the nerve had to be checked for damage. So one good thing was I got 90 days of work,
on orders at the Reserves when I asked if I could.
We were separated I did not press charges on her because I was worried about our kids.
A few months later she went to court for an assault charge and was given probation by the court. I remained on my own always supporting them financially and compromising my own life.
The Dept.of The VA awarded me VA Compensation at a decent amount and financially
helping us out greatly. I got the divorce and also finished 20 years of military service through the Reserves, I was 54 when I retired from there in 2018. Today I am in a local rock band as a bassist, I just recently got the gig, chasing a dream I had in the early 1980's when I was still a teen.
Believe in a higher power, I was saying prayers to Jesus all the time over these years
maybe because my mother always believed in Him and told me that prayers can work.
Somehow, try to enjoy the challenges in your life, and work as hard as you can to achieve your dreams.

I always said why don't the billionaires build affordable housing; they would get most all of it back anyway it's housing. Here's the last names of them: Gates, Musk, Buffet, Zuckerberg, Bezos, Winfrey, Cuban, Trump, Walton Families, Mars families, just to name a few.

@Alex-07C2 I'd say it's worthwhile to enlist, or serve, there really are many benefits. And like I said when I mentioned honorable discharge from service. That's very important, some soldiers I've seen did drugs and we got tested in a random fashion or unannounced. Testing hot on a urinalysis results in a reduction in rank, and a loss of some pay. Repeating it will get him or her a dishonorable discharge and loss of most of the benefits, if not all of the ones I mentioned above. When I served I was very careful not to bad-mouth a Sergeant or the commissioned officer side. They are Luitenants, Captsins, Majors, Luitenant Colonels, Colonels and Generals. Now the benefits the brass get are more pay, enlisted soldiers must salute officers when outside and passing by them. Officers also have offices that's why they're officers! They are in charge of all operations and planning, They often have meetings and the Sergeant First Class / Platoon Sergeants and First Sergeants go to these meetings too. There is a lot of planning in the military, by the career soldiers and Officers (soldiers too). If you 'make it to retirement - 20 years or more service you will have it really good.

@melanimatejak6821 Yes, my first MOS in 1998 I was a 63T. It's a Bradley Fighting Vehicle Mechanic. So I was assigned to a unit in Colorado, and it is a Armored Cavalry Unit. That consists of soldiers on the field that are Cav Scouts, Tankers,
Dismount Cav scouts, Forward Observers, Cavalry Sergeants, Calvary Officers.
In those MOS's they are designed to be on the field. When they trained on some missions I went to the field too for about 3 weeks. I stayed in an area where mechanics hang, they rolled out of the camp with all the equipment to go exercise -
battles. We were all combat-arms soldiers though, myself included. There were 5 units like our Troop. I saw only one woman out of hundreds of soldiers. I have no problem with that. The infantry has entire Divisions of soldiers. Our Cavalry unit was a Squadron sized element, maybe a few thousand soldiers. And the cooks, also soldiers I didn't mention earlier, and medics too. All in combat arms, not necessarrily combat soldiers but they were in combat arms units. Many of them -
won't be in the field they stay in what's known as the rear. This is the Army I'm talking about. I realized that the Marines use a different system, but there is still
Marines in the rear, administration soldiers, higher ranking Officers. The Marines are more geared to be in the fight in my opinion, are far more organized and respectful of someone's rank, even one rank higher. And I believe they take what they do more seriously, based on what I observed I was out of the military and delivered food to a Marines barracks many times. Anyway, back to the Army, there are many MOS's there still like 200 or even more than that, 200+ MOS's to choose from. Something like Cyber Security is not a combat arms MOS, or IT Soldier is also not a combat arms MOS, but they can get deployed too.

@YtuserSumone-rl6sw Your'e someone with an appreciation for music as a whole piece, a musician is like that. I play bass guitar, electric guitar, some acoustic guitar. I have an appreciation now for classical music a lot more than up to like 30 years old, and my father was a classical violinist. I went into rock n' roll in the mid 70's at 10 years old and it's always been there, through whatever phase I was in - in my life . Married, always working, helping raise our kids, then separated from her and the kids. They grew up and I got divorced!!
All these bands (now classic rock) and some metal bands, of course Metallica, always were there in the background!!! So I'm playing bass again and it's a rockabilly band - everybody's like 60 years old. A helluva lot of fun!

I did transfer into the Army Reserves a Sergeant in order to continue service (now 45 years old)
- and have some kind of a career. My son is - by the way he's autistic low functioning and so
my wife had to deal with it, and also our take care of daughter who was normal thank God.
So one
good thing was I got 90 days of work, on orders at the Reserves when I asked if I could.
I got the divorce and also finished 20 years of military service through
the Reserves, I was 54 when I retired from there in 2018.

DawnSClark Well........... "Unlike iron or carbon steel, stainless steel does not rust. On paper, it is one of the most durable metals on the market, at least in terms of rusting and corrosion. What makes stainless steel so tough? And… does stainless steel really not rust?
Let’s take a brief look at stainless steel — what it is, why it shouldn’t rust (but can), and how you can help prevent your stainless steel from corroding.
What makes stainless steel “stainless?”
No matter its variety, all steel is an alloy composed primarily of iron with a tiny bit of carbon to give it strength and help it resist fracturing. Some steel also contains a smattering of other elements such as sulphur, oxygen, phosphorus, nickel, silicon, or chromium.

STAINLESS STEEL SPEC SHEET
Chromium is the key to corrosion prevention.
Stainless steel prevents rusting because of its composition. It contains a much higher amount of chromium than carbon steel. By definition, “stainless” steel must contain at least 10.5% chromium and no more than 1.2% carbon and other alloying elements.
As a result, carbon steel, which contains little chromium, is harder, but stainless steel is cleaner.
What is chromium?
Chromium is a mineral found in everything from paint pigment to broccoli. In the 1800s, people used chromium to make products look beautiful since the element can be burnished to a high shine. Manufacturers still put chromium on cars, plumbing, and furniture. Today, 85% of the world’s chromium is used in making metal alloys like stainless steel." https://www.kloecknermetals.com/blog/does-stainless-steel-rust/#:~:text=Unlike%20iron%20or%20carbon%20steel,terms%20of%20rusting%20and%20corrosion.

@NunYaBiz1313 A couple years ago if you asked me that, I would have not gone for the whole thing. Love is a complex thing, at the time it seemed like the right thing to do. And then I lost my job, and decided to join the military. That too was a very big move still at 33 years old. Everything kind of happened at once. I think I don't have any regrets, just wish our son was normal then it would have been a lot easier!!!! Now I accepted how everything turned out, I did say prayers to God and Jesus many times. I had a rough time time with employment when I left active duty Army in 2010, not much of a transition to a decent job. Well I was 45 back then.
I transferred to the Army Reserves just trying to set up a retirement and complete 20 years. I accomplished that in 2018, only the rank of E-5 / SGT. I am financially stable enough now, in retirement at 60. If you gamble on a woman I think she should be younger than you, she must respect you. If a guy didn't make a commitment to a woman and she's had several relationships over the years, I'd say that's a RED Flag. I think that I understand what happened now.
