The beauty of sparring unlike real fights where slams are allowed, dude, when someone trys to pick you up they cant slam you in sparring so darces and headlocks are your best friend, or a kimura. Yes you will be on the bottom probably, but if you get your legs up on their waist or whizzer them the fact they cant slam you is your friend. Cheers buddy.
