  1. I have to agree to some extent. I don't think it is a matter of principle though. Let's dwell on your example of colors. You think you might recognize red. But if I change the tone of the color ever so slightly (regardless if it is hue or saturation), you might not recognize the difference and still call it red. In fact, some people learn to further distinguish the colors, but sooner or later hit the learning barrier (as in not being able to distinguish without a reference)/biological barrier (as in eyes not being precise eneugh). Same thing with frequencies. I can intuitively divide and hear out the frequency spectrum into 4 categories (just like anyone really). This is far from beeing precise (absolute) of course, but it is similar to recognizing the color red. If someone is able to divide the frequency spectrum into 250 categories, he is simply better at it, it isn't like he has a different way of doing it.
