From my personal experience, the Problem with vaping is the accesability. You can literally vape the whole day long without a break in most situations. You can vape at work, you can vape in your room. You can always get a stronger vape (more nicotine). Like when you start vaping you go for 3mg/ml, and when you're into it, you use 18 mg.
If you were to light a ciggarete near your coworker, they'd call it out. If you were to smoke in your room, your room would reek. The only breaks you have on vapes, are your self control and that's - in many cases - not enough.
Another thing that maybe contributing to the acute GI problems, could be that a 3mg vaper, might - due to a mistake, or out of curiosity - pick a 6 times stronger vape, which the organism just didn't develop the tolerance to.
