  2.  @AlimentalElder  You're right about the Soviet Union, but Donetsk itself had a separate far leftist movement much more recently, with whole socialist military units. I think it was a reaction to the far right wing stance the pro-Kiev forces were taking.

  3. Back in the day when the DPR became a new republic, they had a very large communist party in their parliament. Since then they've become part of Russia, but back then they did actually have an independent leftist movement.
