There are far more restrictions on cars, alcohol and cigarettes than on guns. In most states you can't drink beer in public places but you can carry a gun through them. There are speed limits for cars, and you can buy a rifle at 18 but need to be 21 to drink alcohol.

@XskiXedgeX Nobody said he was killing in the name of Antifa, he was shooting indiscriminately, the El Paso shooter openly praised Trump in his manifesto, literally quoting Trump as his reasoning for shooting Mexicans.

@dealer263 You can't sell alcohol without a licence either. You can get a licence to carry a gun in public, you can't ever drink alcohol on the train, that sounds like you have more freedom with guns. You can't legally drive while intoxicated either. You can't drive your car without a licence and you get your licence removed for breaking the law in your vehicle as well. None of what you have said explains how guns are more regulated than other common items and substances.

@dealer263 The point still stands that guns are less restricted than all the examples given. Maybe not everywhere, but in places in the US, you can more freely carry a gun than you can do other common things like driving, drinking, and smoking. I'm not denying anything. Guns are designed to kill, it's the entire function taken into consideration when designing them, they exist out of the need to kill. Cars are designed to transport people, and nearly all car related deaths are accidental. The majority of gun related deaths are murders and suicides, so intentional. @dealer263 If you have a vehicle related crime you can't get a car licence either. How do you think people illegally get guns? They are put in to circulation by people who own them legally. Although your 1% statistic is complete bullshit. Since there is about 40 thousand gun related deaths each year in the US, I can't see how they could possibly have estimated that 3 million are prevented by guns. Something somewhere has been taken out of context. I'm a gun owner myself, I have always been for civilian gun ownership. But people are being blatantly stupid by saying that guns are no different from other everyday items. It shows the lack of respect that lead to accidents and negligence regarding firearms.
