None of that is true. Even if it is, your "great great grand father" was executed because he was a failure who was captured while fighting for a failed regime, your "great grand father" was a selfish Ukrainian Kulak who starved himself by failing to comply, your "grand father" forced to fight the Germans because Germany invaded Russia and he was conscripted as was every other man in the world at that point, and your "father" had an irrelevant job to your story, Chernobyl had nothing to do with Communism. And literally none of what you said was as a result of Communism or even of Stalin.

@nicolasbernardini3413 Right wingers are the only revisionists. They don't know a thing about reality of history, they refuse to admit the Soviet Union was an incredible success and achieved incredible things. Every major achievement of the 20th century happened either directly or indirectly because of the Soviet Union.

@Ngl310 Many Americans travel to Cuba to take advantage of their healthcare system. And North Korea developed far faster than the South, they had cities and skyscrapers decades before South Korea. North Korea's development was halted by Kim Jong Il, a man who wiped every mention of the word "Socialism" and "Communism" from the country's constitution. And during the 60's, several Americans did defect to North Korea to live better lives.

@Ngl310 Yeah, many doctors under "Communism" would have preferred Capitalism, because they got payed a reasonable wage under Communism and were expected to actually do their jobs without profiting off the suffering of others. South Korea prospered because the US pumped billions into the economy just to make a statement, for decades South Korea was a lot worse than North Korea is today. You have to be completely in denial if you chose to believe that Communism hasn't improved a country. China went from rice farmers under regional warlords to the most powerful country on earth. The Soviet Union was so mighty that the US had to ally almost the entire planet against it to even get close to evening the playing field. Cuba got infinitely better under communism, as did Nicaragua, the infant mortality rates dropped massively and literacy rates skyrocketed. You are clearly an idiot and there's no point telling you the facts about Communism and Socialism, if I had a fucking time machine and could show it all to you first hand, you still wouldn't believe me. You have clearly let corporations make up your mind for you and nothing I can do can change that. If you want to learn anything about the vast achievements of Socialism, you can go look it up yourself, I did, nothing is stopping you.

@scottxoxa2730 Nobody here is a Stalinist. And Communism and Socialism have set principles and core fundamentals. If these are not enacted then there is no Socialism or Communism. Claiming to do something and doing something else does not change the meaning of the thing you are claiming to do. By your logic, Democracy means to never vote and only have one leader put in place by the previous one, because this is what North Korea says it is. North Korea may claim to be democratic, but since they are not a democracy then they aren't democratic are they? If Stalin claims to be Communist but then doesn't do anything to do with Communism, is he a Communist?

Brian Meyers That has to be the dumbest fucking comment I've seen in ages. Communists don't purge communists, that could be counter productive. People claiming to be communists purge actual communists because communism goes against the agenda of the one pretending to be communist. A tiny bit of thought and you could have concluded that yourself, it's amazing I had to do that for you.

@Blackwolf-of5kx Lenin was only in power for like 5 years so he didn't get anywhere near as much done as was planned. But most of the country did go through Socialist reform during that period. It's called the "Soviet Union" for a reason, it wasn't one country, but many. Lenin set up the regions of Russia, the Republics, Krays, Oblasts, etc. (most of them existed before Lenin but he gave them power) that were all supposed to be self governed by unions known as "Soviets" and they'd all form a "Union" together, you get where I'm going with this. But Stalin consolidated power in Moscow when he took over and took all of the power away from the Soviets. So Lenin had no say in the way the Soviet Union was governed after his death, Leninism was a great success until it was replaced by Stalinism.

@Metalbringer92 Okay. Let's get this straight. First off, North Korea is not Communist, no country has ever been, they aren't even Socialist. They recently removed all mentions of Socialism, Communism, Maoism, and Marx from their constitution and replaced them all with Juche, the specific North Korean economic model. Secondly how about you move to Brazil? Or to Liberia, or India? They're all capitalist, you think capitalism is so great then go move to any of those countries.

@davidfl4 I never said they starved themselves, I'm saying that most of them cut and run and took their things with them, and many burned down their farms on the way out. And I'd have fared fine, because I would have been a member of the Communist Party and would gladly work on a collective farm over some Kulak's farm any day.
