For a psychologist (and like many) it's a little on the strange side that she's only now just learning about manipulation....but not really that strange either with all things considered (which can often be overly academic focussed and then sheltered/removed from actuality while perhaps/likely over-thought elsewhere) Manipulation is as old as human civilisation and the human condition itself and is largely just accepted both unintentionally and apathetically with not enough further consideration......as you'd expect when considering all things (like the bigger picture) further. Being smart in one discipline unfortunately doesn't make someone wise ......as we unfortunately learnt from the clearly intelligent (in one area) doctors (and academics) who we once admired and thought/expected far more of.

I've worked in psychological manipulation, or 'nudge' units as she politely calls (and then unintentionally lessens their nastiness), my whole adult working life (30 years).......unfortunately most folks who work in them are sadly just REALLY shameless opportunists who also have (and feature) inherently dubious personality traits where their over-inflated ego's genuinely think that they're the first ones to have 'discovered' what we've known for a really LONG time about the human condition and manipulation (both simple and complex) in general.
