The long Videos on these complicated timing components is Best, Since you get to see everything and the tools needed and the techniques that you should not use like prying off the pulley's or timing gears etc that so many "quick" Shops and "Mechanics" do. Short Videos are for the almost everyday simple issues. Thank You for taking the Time to film this, it is appreciated now and maybe even in years to come when some new guy decides to fix these cars again due to high car prices or Government Madness etc.

  3. What a Great video and explanation. I now have a better understanding of the process of changing a wheel bearing and a greater appreciation for my mechanic and the work that he does. Keep up the good work, A+ or Gold star, whichever you prefer. However no one replied to my question on which was posted on the Transmission change oil video a few months ago.

  5. ! Toyota Used to be Known for Something Called "Build Quality"! and you could have Fixed almost anything on the Vehicle With 2 Combination Spanners( 10 &12 mm, 14 &17 mm) and a single Filip + flathead Screwdriver.

  6. Yes there is a difference in quality with counterfeit parts and it has become increasingly difficult to tell them apart. Further to add pain to this wound, some genuine companies who made quality replacement parts such as belts, water pumps, pulleys, timing kits etc like "Gates" now make their parts in China instead of Japan or the US etc so the difference in appearance and feel is not as simple to determine which is genuine and it only gets worse the older the vehicle. However, the older the vehicle it seems to cost less money and be more reliable than new ones these days. Strange now how "NEW" Does not mean what it once did.

  8. Thank You for your honest opinion on the car repairs and inspection. There are too many Deceitful "Professionals" who are't even that knowledgeable or experienced in car repair and charge an arm and a leg to do the simplest of tasks. I would like to see how to repair the wiper assembly on the glass though as there are many other makes of cars with the same problem.

  9. The lexus Ux looks great, but looking at the crash test ratings for the 2019 model I would rather some more structural strength and rigidity. I mean the average legal speed on highways nowadays is 100km/hr or a bit higher in some cases and the crash test videos at 64km/hr show the entire front crumbled and the side impact at 50km/hr is also a shocker, The air bags won't save you in a crash from a vehicle going at 100km/hr plus you will have to "wright off" that vehicle and buy another one because it will be next to impossible to repair and have any faith in the repaired vehicle strength.

  10. The Mark 4 supra will always be the forever Supra we always wanted since the "Grand Turismo" Days. That BMW may be a decent driving car but it will never bring the Emotion and true feelings of the Mark4 or 3 or 2. Hopefully Toyota does become an emotional company again and start either re-making new parts to fit these old vehicles or make some new vehicles with the same dedication and passion to win, which launched the Supra Name in the first place.

  11. One of the best informative videos on the EGR system I have seen. I do however have a question, what if you did not want to spend the money on the replacement parts but instead just clean the EGR and in particular the intake where the air gets clogged and causes the shaking at idle etc. What is the best method that you have tried thus far to get the intake clean? If you can make a video about this it would help out a lot of people with EGR carbon issues especially with older model cars and not only Toyotas.

  13. With all the plastic covers on the new vehicles like this RAV 4 How does a DIY person with a basic floor jack and jack stands raise and work on these cars? Because We only see you lift them with the 4 post lift and you don't point out any other jack points.

  16. Did you change the expansion Valve while the entire assembly was out or did you reuse the old one? That seems a bit counter-intuitive if you reused the old part. It's like doing a timing belt and not replacing the old water pump, thus expected to fail at some time in the near future.

However i do have a concern with updates as I have seen many companies now when issuing a "Update" are actually removing functionality from their products in order to force you to buy the latest products. Example "Thinkware Dashcams", "DJI Drones" etc.

  24. ! You need to explain Further What you mean by the Oil should be half way on the dipstick if you do your oil change cold. Do You Mean Halfway between the L and H marks? Because some Older Toyotas will Shut off if you take a rapid turn or Corner when the oil is low. Also How come in the Owners manual or service manual they never state to fill it Halfway? and the Usual recommended amount of Oil in the manual fills it to the H Mark??

  27. I am Confused by your statement Mr. Car care Nut. You said that if your toyota/lexus car has a dipstick and the dipstick cap is red in color then you can use the ATF Type T-IV. However on the dipstick itself it says to use Dexron 11 or 111 (Dexron 2 or 3) and from what information i can get on the internet, most people don't recommend using the Type T-IV instead of the Dexron 2 or 3 as they may be totally different fluids and the T-IV bottle does not indicate any information. Please Comment on this. Thanks.

  28. Great review hope you do many more of these videos. With respect to the van however, I see two major problems, (1) The "Subaru like" Plastic theme around the engine bay and inside and we all know how those subaru plastics like to break, especially door handles and trim pieces.(2) The rear door not being more reinforced steel and the motors in the shock absorbers themselves will be very expensive to replace in case of a rear hit. Also what happens if the kids play with the rear door and the motors break, will the rear door still be useable or will it be that you will have to replace the expensive motor assembly to use it?

  30. Great Advice. Can you give your thoughts on a controversial car topic please? That is of Steering wheel covers for both warm and cold climates, If you should use one, and most people will use one anyway so your thoughts on the ones which offer the best safety in terms of hand comfort and grip etc will be appreciated. I see some that are branded Goodyear and Michellin like the tire companies and i wonder if they are any good.

I think you answered your own question when you asked why the dealerships don't want to do the work. 1- Complicated, 2- Labor intensive, 3- Brittle wiring and plastics Because the customer will always complain and say "it was fine until you interfered with it therefore you broke it" and they are not paying for any work it must be done all free. Unfortunately that is the mind of the average customer at a dealership today and that is why they would not want to do the work. Your customer may be different and have some reasoning but most don't.

  34. It's So great that you did good by your customer and completed the task with good parts and out of your own time and expense to do it right. There is no company today or even 90% of "mechanics" that will do the right thing like what you did. I wish more people had the work ethic like yours in todays world but sadly it is a reality that there is just fewer and fewer good people no matter the profession, every thing is quick fix and get rich quick.

  35. Great review. However, one thing seems to bother me with the hybrid trucks and SUV's in general. In Todays world the weather can be so unpredictable and because of the stupid politicians people put in power the drainage and watercourses of certain regions and countries and their roads are not well kept and as a result you can find yourself in a puddle of water or crossing a street that has turned into a small river, so what about the hybrids chances of driving through water crossings and mud like the old hylux models? Can the hybrids be "Bushproofed" to some extent and to what degree have they been tested by the factory for water ingress etc?

  36. You made a Mistake in this video when you drained the oil from the engine and changed the filter and you said "that's it, you're done". It was a mistake because I remember watching a youtube video, Possibly Scotty kilmer video or so where a lexus owner took his/her car to a quick oil change franchise to get an oil change and an air filter as they were quoted by the shop and the oil was drained but never filled the engine with new oil and the owner was told that everything was good and they drove off only to ruin their engine a few miles down the road and the shop was even claiming that it must be something else wrong with the car as they did good work. So please for the short attention span of the new "Techs" who may not have stuck around for the whole video to see that you actually refilled the engine with new oil, please put in a pop up or banner within that section of the video where you drained the oil. Thanks. Remember that 20-30 years ago the cars manual showed you how to adjust the fuel mixture and idle etc but today they have to print in Bold letters "DO NOT DRINK THE BATTERY ACID". # Legalize weed they said !🤔
