Comments by "" (@WarpedPerception) on "Best TAP \u0026 DIE Set? Craftsman vs Irwin, Bosch, Draper, Vermont American, Tekton, GearWrench" video.
I think you should have left the Draper out of the test. This was a much needed video and perfect timing!, just two days after I broke one of those taps off in my part that took me a week to machine and cost me about $600 in tooling and material alone....smh.

@rotorhead5826 lol... Your right, but I was tapping copper which really sucks to machine tap or anything else.

@Norwegian_Bastard that is exactly what I learned on this project, I had to flood it with a ton of coolant to make it work, the copper was absorbing the heat from the bit before the coolant got a chance to, interesting phenomenon but it made it a painful learning experience..lol

@rotorhead5826 plus, the technique for sure

@rwhite9994 I didn't try that but that makes sense, what I did instead was just go slower and flood the part with coolant completely to make sure it didn't heat up

@79Luca79 I learned how to do it the right way now...lbvs, my first time machining and tapping a large copper part. First time for everything but Yeah I'm not sloppy.

@caseyt8447 you are absolutely right, I also learned that making my video, when I moved to a non-sulfur-based coolant it was like night and day

@blackhawk7r221 well I ended up moving to a different type of coolant, and then some of the holes I tapped by hand using the process that you stated here. That's how I ended up getting it done.

@tubastuff yup

@rotorhead5826 btw , I was back filming the video after I commented here and I was tapping another hole, a larger one, and then I realized that the top I was using for the larger hole, was Greenfield...lol. not the one that broke though that one was Craftsman.
