  2. @hellothere1656  I'm not sure that mixing up the Hittites and the turkic tribes is a good thing. The time frames are different. The Greeks didn't invade what is now Turkey. The Ottoman Empire didn't even exist then. All the Greeks did was establish colonies there. Besides, they had a long history with the Persians, well fighting them that is. And who said that Greece wants to revive whichever empire there was. Alexander's the Great was quicky divided into 4 generals . I don't know who got what's now modern Turkey, but Ptolemee got Egypt. As for Cyprus, I agree that the colonels made a huge blunder at that time. I was at the LOC, and in front of us was Famagusta, just ruins. Concerning the EU, the associate partnership that exists is the best solution for both.

  4. The biggest problem is that it was the UK that pushed for including East European countries into the EU. Hence the problems now. And sorry, but Macron isn't what you think. . But brexit happened , finally, so what is your problem ? Thing is, the East European, well we didn't ask for them. The British wanted to demine the euro concept. Hence Poland. Sorry no . We don't have the same values. As for Hungary..what a laugh ! Russia doesn't care about you.

  7. No. The eu is expanding far too much. Already those Eastern countries, and Turkey, border with Iran, Irak, Syria and they still are in Cyprus. Stop dreaming !

  9. This seems a bit futile coming from Macron . Remember the japanese exports? Everyone said those were shoddy goods but bought nevertheless. Then they upgraded their products, and people bought them because those were reliable and didn't yet have obsolescence programmed in. You can still find 1970s cars that are great. Then it was South Korea's turn. Same story, yet today? So why harp against China ? It isn't their fault that " Europe " didn't get their act together. As for Germany, remember the Diesel gate ? The chinese aren't lying about EVs . Personally, as I don't drive, I couldn't care less. However, blaming China for all the ills is dumb. The US is slow right now, but " Europe " is just limping around. Naturally, they are an important market for China as is the US, but what isn't mentioned is that China is concentrating on it's own country now. Even if they have certain problems and they will deal with those. I'm not chinese, can't stand that regime, but a) it's only a "communist " country in the sense it's top/down orders. CCP, now means the Chinese Capitalist Party. As for the EU, I'm glad my country isn't part of it.

  11. The biggest problem was with admitting the east European countries. They don't have the same values as in the west. Germany isn't central Europe, and yes they gave, and still do , help them. Ok, themselves too. Not sure why they don't understand that. Now it's Slovenia to try and tell the west what to do ? Curious that they felt a grouping, the Visegrad , yet want the money. Sorry

  12.  @editorrbr2107  a rather dumb comment. If you knew anything it was the British that pushed for opening up to the eastern countries. And slyilyl left the EU. They weren't ready to join it. But they want the money. So your remarks fall flat.

Hello there, I'm not in a European country, though smack in the middle, but the EU expanded to quickly, they should have waited for the post - communist countries to adapt instead of rushing ahead. Result : tensions within. Beginning with Poland and Hungary. And the baltic states crying Russia! Which doesn't give a damn about them. But want the money from the EU. It's very true that there is a divide between the eastern and western Europe. I agree with you.

  14.  @maavet2351  yes and that's the problem. My country voted not to join, and if we were to vote again, the result will be the same. And the EU wants to expand even further east ! Turkey is an important associate state. As for NATO, well, Sweden is an associate member but not de jure , and it does seem like the US is more concerned about it's own politics and Europe isn't that much on their radar. Okay, there's that stupid war . Sweden and the nordic countries are very much admired by the rest of the world , but they know that. So, let them take their time, right now isn't the best time to rush matters.
