What's not mentioned here is that it's Mali itself that begged the french to intervene against the islamists , yet they share the same religion. Secondly, don't forget the russians with Wagner who are only interested in the mines . And third, they putting their own country at risk, who wants to invest there ? Changing the status of the language isn't a scandal. Other countries have done so. But the UN has only 6 official languages and none comes from Mali. Good luck to them !

@mdaasif360 There's no problem that they ditch french, I said that. Which invasion ? When Mali went begging to France for help and they sent soldiers to fight against those mad islamists ? As for the CFA, it's now pegged to the euro .choose rubles if you want to. Look at your shortcomings first,

@josephineamawiafe9428 Thanks for your vitriolic reply. Charming. To begin with, who created the UN ? Secondly, did anybody force the newly independent countries to join ? Answer : the US and no . Third, have you heard about the Cold War ? African countries were the proxies in that war. Yes, international institutions are skewed into the West's favour, and that is about to change. Again, you talk about pain, etc. Your grasp of geopolitics seems very poor imo. Again, you fail to understand that it's the governments who are to blame. You can rightly accuse France for many reasons, but not for the mismanagement of those countries. You don't mention that it's the elites there that have the wealth, as for the poor... so maybe you should check the facts first.

@mdaasif360 I hope so. For the poor people there. What have those military guys said they are going to do ? Build schools hospitals and feed the people ? It's one thing to say bye bye France and welcome russia ( believe me, that's a mistake, ) and offer nothing to the young who are jobless. I'd like to know your thoughts on this.

@josephineamawiafe9428 Sorry, but I just wanted to clarify the facts. Again, you deflect and don't answer : why do these refugees risk their lives wanting to come to Europe ? France has a lot of poor people, just in case. So, once again, fine. They have to leave the West African countries. As for hospitals and schools, the french did build a lot of those. What's the state of either now ?

@firstblessings8777 I don't think that you have taken into account the fact that the " hate " isn't fanned by the russians ? In Niger's case, that general was about to be sacked. The army didn't agree at first but came around. Also, if the french were ineffective in dealing with the islamists. As a general, wasn't it his responsibility as well ? I don't think that the youth that are brandishing the russian flag would want to be sent to die in that stupid war. Do you ? Also, corruption reigns, how will they, the putschistes, bring prosperity to the country ?
